Pokemon Go ‘Check Out My Cute Pokemon’ Rocket Grunt lineup & counters

Pokemon Go Team Rocket Grunt

Team Go Rocket has been causing trouble in Pokemon Go since 2019, but they’re pretty useful, as beating them gives you a chance to catch Shadow Pokemon.

But before you can take on its powerful Leaders – Arlo, Cliff, Giovanni, and Sierra – you’ll need to make your way through Rocket Grunts. These opponents may be weaker, but they can still put up a fight, so knowing their lineup is important.

Each of these Grunts delivers a taunt that hints at what type they use. Some are obvious, while others are a little more obscure. We’ve got a handy guide for all of Pokemon Go’s Rocket Grunt lineups that you can save for future encounters.

But to help you defeat the ‘Check Out My Cute Pokemon’ Grunt, below, we’ve put together the current lineup for this month.

The Grunt lineups shown below are correct as of August 13, 2025, following the Delightful Days: Taken Over event from August 11, 2025.

Current ‘Check Out My Cute Pokemon!’ lineup

Making things a little bit simpler, this particular Grunt will only use Fairy-type Pokemon, with the following potential encounters:

Snubbull

Galarian Weezing
Galarian Weezing
Mawile*
mawile
Kirlia
Gardevoir
gardevoir
Alolan Vulpix
vulpix-alolan
Galarian Weezing
Galarian Weezing
Alolan Ninetales
ninetales-alolan

Note: Pokemon marked with a * can be Shiny.

As you can see from the potential lineups above, there are mainly two Pokemon families you might encounter during this battle: Kirlia and its evolution, Gardevoir, and Alolan Vulpix and its evolution, Alolan Ninetails. On top of that, we’ve got three outliers with Galarian Weezing, Snubbull, and Mawile.

  • Snubbull is a pure Fairy-type.
  • Kirlia and Gardevoir are dual Psychic/Fairy-types, and Alolan Ninetales is a dual Ice/Fairy-type.
  • Mawile is a dual Fairy/Steel type, and Galarian Weezing is a dual Poison/Fairy-type.

Overall, this makes things quite easy, as the entire lineup is weak against either Poison or Steel-type attacks (or both), except for Mawile, which is weak against Fire and Ground-type moves.

These are some of the best counters for this Fairy-type Grunt:

Metagross

Meteor Mash
Excadrill

Metal Claw
Iron Head

While the counters listed above represent some of the best options for taking down its Pokemon, don’t worry too much if you don’t have any of those in your collection.

As long as you have some strong Poison and Steel-types on your team with a Ground or Fire-type attack reserved for Mawile, you should be able to take down this Grunt with no problem at all.
