The Buddy feature in Pokemon Go allows you to earn extra Candy by walking with a selected companion. As they are divided into categories, here’s the 3km Buddies chart to help you pick the best partner.

Buddy Pokemon is a key mechanic in Niantic’s mobile game that is essential for leveling up and filling out Pokedex entries. However, not all creatures progress at the same rate, with some being several times slower than others.

That’s why knowing the difference between the 1km, 3km, 5km, and 20km companions is important to more effectively plan your candy farming, so here are the ones in the middle.

The following Pokemon will all earn Candy for every 3km you walk around outside:

The best part about setting these Pokemon as your Buddy is that they’ll earn Candy in the background while you walk. You can also reduce the distance you need to walk by filling your Buddies hunger meter.

It doesn’t seem as though there’s a limit to the amount of Candy you can earn with your Buddy in a day, so walk as much or as little as you like!
