Pokemon Day 2025 rumor is ridiculous but players still want it

Pokemon Day 2025 rumors have continued to spiral as February 27 gets closer, and a new classic port theory is fueling nostalgic fires.

Every Pokemon Day Presents livestream comes with a slew of rumors. One of the most popular in recent years has been the possibility of a classic game collection port. For many, access to games like Ruby, Sapphire, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, and many other pre-3DS titles has become difficult. Despite the interest, the Nintendo Switch has yet to see a classic port.

While players have been burned by classic game port rumors year after year, the Pokemon Day 2025 Presents leaks have resurrected the idea, and fans are just as hopeful this year as they were in 2020.

Another eyebrow-raising Pokemon rumor

A rumor shared on social media by an account called Hidden Power Podcast has compiled information about a rumor. They stated, “Suggests Upcoming Classic Pokemon Port Collection.” This is the same account that covered a leak about Pokemon Legends: ZA including a new Eeveelution called “Soareon”.

According to the account, the collection would “contain gens 1-3” and each of the gens would get a collection name like “Pokemon Memories” for Red, Gold, and FireRed or Pokemon Reminiscence for Blue, Silver, Sapphire, and LeafGreen. The rumor even suggests an alleged March 13 release date for this speculated content.

Players in the comments were immediately on board with the rumor. One stated, “NEEEED ON SWITCH HOLY” and another added, “Would I buy this knowing I have an emulator and the roms? Yes…yes I would.”

Prices were discussed as well, though it seems many had no issue with the cost going up over $100. One stated, “Make it 200$ and I would buy it anyway,”

While the chance to play classic Pokemon games on the Nintendo Switch has been a wish from the fanbase for years, it doesn’t seem likely to happen during the 2025 year. With the Nintendo Switch 2 releasing in 2025, porting a collection of beloved classic games wouldn’t make sense.

A few players echoed this thought in the comments, but for the most part, players wanted to believe this collection might see the light of day, allowing them to access games firmly locked behind decades of console evolution.
