The Pokemon CompanyArceus may be the most powerful entity in the Pokemon universe, but it doesn’t look like this will be the case in TCG Pocket.
Making his debut in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, Arceus was presented as a god among Pokemon. As the creator of the universe, Arceus grants the player an avatar of himself to use in battle like any other Pokemon. This makes Arceus one of the strongest Pokemon in the entire series – if not the strongest.
With this in mind, TCG Pocket players were keen to see what an Arceus card could look like, expecting it to be overpowered and a card that would really shake things up. However, if the leaked card is anything to go by, this won’t be the case.
According to the X (Twitter) account of Centro LEAKS, the Arceus card will be part of a new set called Triumphant Light and will serve as the featured card. The leaked teaser trailer shows the Arceus Ex card, but it’s not as powerful as many would expect it to be.
The card’s most powerful move; Ultimate Force does 70+ damage. While this is respectable, there are plenty of other Ex cards that are far more effective – so it’s surprising that a supposed god is less powerful than a Charizard.

X users were also shocked by the card’s low power level, immediately commenting on the post saying, “That’s kinda weak for an Arceus” and “That Arceus is soooooo disappointing wow.”
Others addressed the fact that Arceus is supposed to be the most powerful being in the Pokemon universe, with one player saying, “Arceus: The God of all Pokemon. Devs: let’s just make it a colorless Pikachu Ex.”
However, some players liked the card, commenting on the “cool design” or said that they were looking forward to adding it to their decks.
While the criticism of the Arceus card is fair, especially for a card that’s supposed to be an all-powerful entity, adding a lore-accurate Arceus card to Pokemon TCG Pocket would utterly break the game.
Even the various Pokemon games on Nintendo consoles somewhat nerf the character, presenting him as just an avatar of the original godlike Arceus. The same is likely true of the card in TCG Pocket.
That being said, Arceus should always be one of the most powerful Pokemon, and that’s simply not the case in this representation. We may learn more on Pokemon Day and during the Pokemon Presents livestream.
