Should you choose Mega Charizard X or Y?
Although many agree that Mega Charizard X has a cooler design, the best Mega Evolution to choose in Pokemon Go is Mega Charizard Y.
The main reason to choose Mega Charizard Y is that it has a much higher Attack stat (319 vs 273) and it’s capable of reaching a max CP of 5037, a massive difference when compared to Mega Charizard X’s 4353.
DEXERTOMoreover, the Y form is considered one of the best Fire-type attackers in Niantic’s game. Per Pokemon Go DB, which tracks stats, Mega Charizard Y (31.29) is the second-best Fire type available with a DPS of 31.29, only surpassed by Mega Blaziken’s 31.98.
Of course, Mega Charizard X is still a powerful option – and the boost to Fire and Dragon-type attacks is very useful – but there are superior Dragon types, like Dragonite and Salamence.

They are both weak to three types (though they only have Rock in common), but Charizard Y has seven resistances while Charizard X has only five.
