The Metalsmith Pokemon, Tinkatink, and its evolutions are coming to Pokemon Go! So, check everything there is to know about their debut, including whether or not their Shiny variations will be available.
Tinkatink, the dual Fairy/Steel-type Pokemon from Gen 9, was introduced to the franchise with Scarlet & Violet, and its final form – Tinkaton – quickly became a fan-favorite due to its broad power and adorable design.
Now, to celebrate the success of Pokemon Horizons: The Series, a special event will feature creatures and humans from the animated series, including Tinkatink’s evolutionary line, a costumed Floragato, and more!
How to get Tinkatink in Pokemon Go
The special event will run from April 16, 2025, until April 22, 2025, and according to the details shared by Niantic, trainers will have a couple of ways to find Tinkatink in the game:
- As a reward for completing Research tasks
- As a hatch from 7km Eggs

During the event, players can complete a Paid Timed Research to earn extra encounters with Tinkatink. As for the Eggs, once the Pokemon Horizons: The Series Celebration is over, Tinkatink will switch to 10km Eggs, settling it as a rare spawn to find.
Because it will be set as a difficult Pokemon to find, players will have trouble getting the required amount of Candy to evolve Tinkatink into Tinkatuff and Tinkaton. That’s why events such as this are the ideal opportunities to do so.
How to evolve Tinkatink into Tinkatuff and Tinkaton
As previously mentioned, Tinkatink is part of a three-member family, and while a lot of Candy will be required, no special methods or items will be required to trigger the evolutionary process.
To evolve Tinkatink into Tinkatuff, players will need to collect 25 Candy. Then, they must collect an extra 100 Candy to turn Tinkatuff into its final form, Tinkaton.

If you’re struggling to collect enough Candy, focus on hatching as many as you can while taking advantage of the 1/2 hatch distance bonus the event offers.
Additionally, every time you encounter one as a Research task reward, use Pinap Berries to increase the amount of Candy you get per catch.
Remember to set your tiny friend as your Buddy and take it for a walk so it can find extra Candy. Then transfer all the Tinkatink you’re not interested in evolving to Professor Willow in exchange for some more.

Can Tinkatink be Shiny?
No, Tinkatink cannot be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as of yet.
Usually, when a new Pokemon debuts in the game, it doesn’t do so alongside its Shiny version. That way, Niantic can save the Shinies for another special occasion, which tends to happen about a year after.
It’s worth remembering, though, that the overall odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon are very low, as there’s no special technique or method to secure an encounter.
The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is to hunt for tons of wild creatures, challenge every Raid boss, and hatch as many Eggs as they can until they come across what they’re looking for.
