Known as the Scaly Pokemon, Jangmo-o is a mighty Dragon-type creature from the Alola region that is quite hard to find in Pokemon Go.
It first appeared in Niantic’s game in 2022 with the Welcome to Alola event, but its low spawn rates quickly turned it into an extremely rare Pokemon to find.
Because of this, players have trouble registering it – or any of its evolved forms, Hakamo-o and Kommo-o – in their Pokedex. So, to help out, here’s everything there is to know to catch and evolve Jangmo-o, as well as whether you can get its Shiny version or not.
How to get Jangmo-o in Pokemon Go
There are currently three ways to get a Jangmo-o in the game:
- As a wild encounter (increased spawns during the June 21 Community Day)
- As a hatch from 10km Eggs – only the Adventure Sync ones

Previously, players were able to challenge and catch it in 1-Star Raid battles or get it as a reward for completing Research tasks.
How to evolve Jangmo-o into Hakamo-o and Kommo-o
This small Dragon-type Pokemon is part of a three-member family, which means a good amount of Candy will be required to register all of its forms in the Pokedex. Luckily, there are no special requirements or items for this evolution.
To evolve Jangmo-o into Hakamo-o, players will need to feed it 25 Candy. Then, they must use another 100 Candy to turn Hakamo-o into its final stage, the pseudo Legendary, Kommo-o.

Jangmo-o Candy
The Pokemon’s rarity and the amount of Candy necessary mean you’ll want to take advantage of Jangmo-o Raids and events whenever possible.
With Jangmo-o being featured in the June 21 Community Day, players shouldn’t have trouble gathering all the Candy they need to register the complete family.
However, to do it faster, trainers can always use Pinap Berries to increase the amount of Candy they receive per catch. Then, they can transfer their extra Jangmo-o to Professor Willow in exchange for a few more.
They can also set the Pokemon as their Buddy and take it for long walks, or trade some Rare Candy for more Jangmo-o Candy.
Jangmo-o CP in Pokemon Go
Jangmo-o’s CP in the wild will vary, even more so if it’s boosted by a weather condition. Plus, when it appears as a Raid boss, the CP won’t be the same once you manage to catch it after defeating it.
Raid boss CP | 3178 |
CP range once captured | 510 – 553 |
Windy weather CP range | 637 – 692 |
Egg hatch CP | 510 – 553 |
Max CP (Level 50) | 1095 |
Jangmo-o stats, moves, resistances & weaknesses
As a pure Dragon-type Pokemon, Jangmo-o has the following stats:
ATTACK | DEFENSE | STAMINA | CP |
---|---|---|---|
102 | 108 | 128 | 1095 |
Can Jangmo-o be Shiny?
Yes, Jangmo-o can be Shiny in Pokemon Go, as this special variation was added to the game at the start of the Go Fest 2024 Global event.
Those after a Shiny Jangmo-o can easily spot it due to its striking color palette. Its usual upper light gray body parts change to bright yellow, while the yellow nails and scales on its forehead, back, and tail turn pink.
Subsequently, those who evolve a Shiny Jangmo-o will get a Shiny Hakamo-o and Shiny Kommo-o, both with the same pattern: bright yellow body and pink scales.
It’s worth noting, though, that the odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon are very low, as there’s no special technique or method to secure an encounter. The only thing trainers can do to increase their chances is to hunt as many Jangmo-o as they can until they come across what they’re looking for.
That’s everything you need to know about Jangmo-o in Pokemon Go. Don’t forget to check out the latest Pokemon Go events, including the current Community Day and Spotlight Hours.
