Golden Lure Modules are special Pokemon Go items that turn PokeStops gold and give unique rewards. Here’s how to get and use the lure that attracts something truly rare.

Pokemon Go offers players six different types of Lure Modules, each with a unique twist. While standard ones increase wild spawns, the Glacial, Mossy, Magnetic, and Rainy can trigger special evolutions based on typing.

The Golden Lure Module is a different story, though. This shiny upgrade not only lures in the rare, coin-loving Gimmighoul in its Roaming Form, but it also dishes out its coins and bonus items. The catch? You’ll need to follow a specific process to get your hands on one. Here’s how it works.

How to get Golden Lure Modules

Players looking to obtain Golden Lure Modules will first need to pair Pokemon Go’s mobile app with their copy of Pokemon Scarlet or Violet for the Nintendo Switch.

Once the pairing is done, they have to send postcards to the Gen IX games to obtain them. More specifically, Pokemon Go players will receive a Golden Lure Module for every five postcards they send to Scarlet & Violet.

While there are no other methods to obtain a Golden Lure Module, during particular events, players can benefit from golden PokeStops, as Niantic activates them randomly. The last time this happened was during the 9th Anniversary Party, which took place from July 1, 2025, until July 6, 2025.

How to link Pokemon Go to Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Below are the steps players will need to follow to connect their mobile game with the new Gen 9 titles.

1. Launch Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
2. Open the ‘X’ menu and select ‘Pokemon Portal’.
3. Select ‘Mystery Gift’.
4. Select ‘Connect to Pokemon GO’.
5. Select ‘Pair with a Pokemon Go account’ if you haven’t already (you can do this once per day).
   • Launch Pokemon Go.
   • Navigate to settings.
   • Scroll down to ‘Nintendo Switch’.
   • Select ‘Connect to Nintendo Switch’.
   • Select ‘Yes’ on your Nintendo Switch screen once paired.

How to send postcards in Pokemon Go

The process for sending postcards in Pokemon Go is quite simple:

1. Open Pokemon Go.
2. Tap on your profile.
3. Navigate to your ‘Postcard Book’.
4. Select any postcard (this only works if you have pinned postcards you’ve received from a friend).
5. Tap the icon with three bars and select ‘Sent to Nintendo Switch’.
6. Tap ‘Send,’ ‘Yes,’ then ‘Ok’.

How to use a Golden Lure Module

Players who have obtained and would like to activate a Golden Lure Module can do so by selecting the desired module while inside the ‘lure’ option of a PokeStop.

Like any other standard or special Lure Module, you can spin the Photo Disc every five minutes, and the full effect of the Lure will last for 30 minutes, so be smart about when to activate it.
