Pokemon Go has many Legendaries available to catch. However, only a few of them are as tough as Heatran, who – thanks to its dual Fire/Steel type combination – has plenty of resistances and only a few weaknesses.
This Pokemon was first introduced to the franchise in Gen 4 and has been part of Niantic’s mobile game since 2018.
So, for the highly competitive trainers looking for a great fighter, here are Heatran’s best movesets for PvP and Raid battles now that it is coming back to Raids.
Best moveset for PvP
The best moveset available for Heatran in Pokemon Go’s PvP consists of Fire Spin as a Fast Move and Magma Storm as a Charged Move.
This Legendary only has two Fast Moves, and out of both, only one benefits from STAB. So, it’s safe to say going with Fire Spin is the correct way.
Despite being a dual-type creature, Heatran’s best Charged Moves are the Fire ones, with its signature attack, Magma Storm, making it unstoppable. However, players should know that the only way to acquire this particular move is by capturing a Heatran that already knows it during a special Raid Hour or by using an Elite TM.
Magma Storm is powerful, cheap, and has STAB. But, if you can afford a secondary Charged Move, go with Stone Edge, as it will allow you to target the Flying-type Pokemon that are not affected by Heatran’s fire powers.

Heatran’s best moveset for Raids also consists of Fire Spin as a Fast Move and Magma Storm as a Charged Move, with 16.83 damage per second and 353.2 total damage output.
As a dual Fire/Steel-type creature, there’s no real advantage in using Bug Bite as a Fast Move, so just stay with Fire Spin as mentioned above.
For the Charged Move, Flamethrower is a good option if you have no access to Magma Storm but always go for the signature move if you have the chance, as it deals good damage for way less energy. In case you’re looking for coverage, Iron Head can help you target Ice and Fairy-type Pokemon.
