Pokemon Legends Z-A takes players back to the Kalos region. While rebuilding Lumiose City, fans will run into characters that could be the descendants of the X & Y heroes of the modern-day timeline.
Finding connections between different timelines is one of the popular elements of players in a Legends game in the Pokemon franchise.
After Arceus, which offered encounters with characters reminiscent of modern favorites, many are eager to know who might have an ancestor in this older version of Lumiose City and what roles they could play in the story.
Below is everything we know about every character revealed in Pokemon Legends: ZA, how they are involved with the story, and what purposes they might play when the game releases.
All Characters in Pokemon Legends: ZA
As revealed in the Pokemon Day 2025 Presents trailer and the Pokemon Presents, here are all the characters that have been introduced so far for the new adventure in Legends Z-A:
Player

As with all games since Pokemon Crystal, players will be able to choose between a female or male avatar for their adventures in Legends Z-A.
They follow what’s been portrayed on both Gen 8’s Sword & Shield and Gen 9’s Scarlet & Violet, and while they appear to be wearing a standard outfit, players will probably have the chance to customize their looks.
Clothes, shoes, backpacks, and other items might be available at shops. As for the appearance, the looks – such as hair and makeup – might be changed at salons. Though we’d have to wait for confirmation.
Urbain/Taunie

Every Pokemon trainer needs a counterpart to keep that ‘rivalry’ that is key to every Pokemon story, as they help push the narrative forward.

We’ve had iconic ‘enemies’ like Gary in the anime, Blue in the first generation, all the way to Hop on Sword & Shield and Nemona, Arven, and Kieran in Scarlet & Violet.
This time around – and depending on the player’s choice – Urbain or Taunie will fill that role. They will live and work at Hotel Z, supporting the owner, AZ.
AZ

AZ, the towering and mysterious owner of Hotel Z in Pokemon Legends Z-A, claims to be over 3,000 years old – and he just might be telling the truth. Standing more than nine feet tall with a haunting presence, a busted knee, and even a strange tail, AZ is a far cry from your average NPC.
Once the ancient king of Kalos, he’s now a reclusive figure tucked away in Lumiose City, watching over the hotel that doubles as your base of operations and offering cryptic stories, deep lore, and more.
Long-time fans will recognize him as the man who built an ultimate weapon to bring his beloved Floette back to life at the cost of a devastating war in X & Y.
Eternal Flower Floette

Unlike the regular Floette forms, this unique variant carries a black flower and an aura of sorrow. Said to have perished in an ancient war, she was brought back to life by AZ’s ultimate weapon.
Shrouded in mystery ever since her appearance in X & Y, Eternal Flower Floette has never been catchable – until now, perhaps.
Jett

Lumiose City is going through an urban redevelopment to shape the city into one that belongs equally to both people and Pokemon.
The project is being carried out by a large corporation called Quasartico Inc., and its CEO, Jett, is the one supervising every move, as she’s set to deepen the bonds between Pokemon and people.
Vinnie

Vinnie is Jett’s no-nonsense secretary at Quasartico Inc., and he’s impossible to miss in Lumiose City’s corporate scene.
A towering, sunglasses-wearing figure known for being efficient and perpetually busy, he’s responsible for keeping the CEO on task as the city’s redevelopment ramps up.
Naveen
Depending on whether you play as a girl or a boy, you’ll be recruited by either Urbain or Taunie to join Team MZ, a group in charge of protecting Lumiose City, of which Naveen and Lida are part.
Naveen is an aspiring fashion designer who joined the group along with his partner Scraggy in exchange for studio space and is known for being a bit mysterious.
While he’s not big on battling, Naveen will accompany you through Team MZ’s investigation into the city’s Rogue Mega Evolutions, bringing his unique flair into the mix.
Lida

Young Lida is an aspiring professional dancer who moved to Lumiose City to chase her passion and ended up teaming with the group in exchange for support and housing.
With a personality as bright as her moves, Lida and her partner Staryu bring infectious energy to the crew, and a deep love for food, too.
Corbeau

Corbeau is the shadowy boss of the Rust Syndicate, a crime‑tinged organization operating under Lumiose City’s neon glow. You’ll meet him during Z‑A Royale promotion matches, where his presence marks a major escalation in the night-time battles.
He’s rumored to specialize in Poison-type Pokemon, and his ominous aura suggests he might be a recurring adversary throughout the storyline.
Emma

In Pokemon Legends Z-A, Emma is the new head detective at Looker’s agency. During your adventure, she will task players with tracking down missing Pokemon, recovering lost items, and jumping into the occasional battle, making her a key player in the city’s nightly detective adventures.
For those who don’t remember, Emma and her Espurr first appeared in the X & Y mainline titles and played a major role in the post-game side story along with Looker.
Mable

Mable is the game’s acting Director of Lumiose City’s Pokemon Research Lab. She’s a genius and a blast from the past – originally introduced as a Team Flare scientist in Pokemon X & Y.
Her role now is far more constructive: analyzing the massive influx of Pokemon across the city and studying those wild Rogue Mega Evolutions. Players can assist her by completing Dex tasks and Mega-Evo research requests, earning TMs, EXP candy, and other rewards in return.
While it is still too soon to know what roles most of the characters in Pokemon Legends Z-A will serve or what plot twists could be hidden in their stories, it is exciting to finally see who will be leading the narrative in the newest chapter of the franchise.
Hopefully, we won’t have any new Volo characters lurking in the shadows, waiting to break the hearts of fans.
