BlizzardPerks have completely transformed Overwatch 2 by giving each hero a new set of buffs and abilities, and they’ve made this slept-on DPS character a hidden gem that can annihilate the enemy team.
Overwatch 2 Season 15 introduced the new Perks system, the biggest change to the hero shooter’s gameplay since it first launched in 2016. Players now have a unique set of effects to choose from mid-match, which completely change their favorite characters.
The result is a roster that’s more flexible and powerful than ever and heroes that were previously considered weak now have a real place within the meta. That’s exactly what happened to Venture, who’s become an absolute monster thanks to one of their Perks.
Venture is a must-use hero with this OP Perk
Venture has always been a hero with a relatively high skill gap, as their kit revolves around bursting out of the ground to deal damage before burrowing away to heal. Their ultimate has also drawn criticism for not being as strong as other DPS characters, but that completely changes with Excavation Exhilaration.
This Perks reduces the cooldown of their abilities by 300% while Tectonic Shock is active, allowing them to spam Drill Dash constantly without having to wait for it recharge. This is especially useful when underground, as Venture can travel extremely quickly to get the drop on a team, emerging to deal big damage before they even have time to react.
Using the Dash to speed up while burrowing is already a powerful way to play Venture, but the lack of speed often means that enemies see them coming, giving them a chance to react. This Perk makes it much harder to counter and can send backlines into disarray.
It takes a little practice to master the timing, but as shown in this Reddit clip from ‘andrus0n,’ if you nail it you can rapidly sneak up on enemies while still having time left to use fire your ult, allowing you to deal huge damage.
The best part is that Excavation Exhilaration is only a Minor Perk, meaning you should be able to earn it relatively quickly in a match and you still have a Major to pick later on.
Venture has fallen down the pecking order since they arrived in Season 10, with heroes like Sombra and Sojourn becoming the go-to picks. But if you’re looking to mix things up in your pursuit of the Galactic weapons, then this is one DPS hero you shouldn’t sleep on.
