Powerful Overwatch 2 DPS desperately needs a nerf as she’s ruining matches

Tracer and Sojourn from Overwatch 2

This Overwatch 2 DPS hero is wreaking havoc in both Quick Play and Competitive matches, and she needs a nerf sooner rather than later.

After nine years of updates and new heroes, Overwatch now has a huge lineup of characters, all with unique abilities and playstyles. With 42 to choose from, though, each season always has a handful that are more overpowered than the rest.

In Season 15, Sojourn, the DPS who was introduced when OW2 launched in 2022, has been totally dominating matches across all modes. While damage heroes need to feel strong, she’s been causing plenty of frustration for teams and she needs a nerf to make things feel more balanced.

Sojourn needs a nerf in Overwatch 2 and players agree

Sojourn’s hit encourages her to be aggressive, as landing hits with her Railgun charges up a deadly secondary fire that can one-shot the squishier characters on a team. When you combine this with her high damage output overall and mobility, she’s been terrorizing backlines all season.

I’ve already witnessed a number of occasions where players have switched to D.Va or Genji just to try and counter her and give their Supports a fighting chance. Given that Perks were introduced with the aim of reducing the need to counter swap, this can disrupt the flow of matches in a major way.

A damage nerf wouldn’t really work, as it would make the character feel weak and unusable, but there is a simple fix – reduce her health.

Sojourn in OW2

At the moment, Sojourn has 250 health, the same as heroes like Genji and Soldier 76. But given how much more damage she can often deal, as well as her slide which makes her tough to hit, a small reduction to 225 or even 200 would make her a glass cannon who’s still more than viable.

Plenty of players have taken to social media during Season 15 calling for exactly this. One Reddit user called for her health to be nerfed, arguing: “If we won’t tone down the lethality of railgun, the hitbox on it, her own tiny hitbox, or her mobility then lean into making her a glass cannon instead of just a cannon.”

In the replies, even a Sojourn main agreed: “I play a lot of Souj and hard agree, at the moment her kit has no real negative, she’s a low risk high reward pick in any comp.”

We’ll have to wait and see if Blizzard decide to nerf Sojourn in an upcoming update, with the mid-Season 15 patch being the next opportunity. Beyond that, Season 16 will also introduce some buffs, nerfs, and the new hero Freja to provide some competition.
