A G.I. Joe crossover is coming to Overwatch 2 during Season 17, bringing new hero skins inspired by the franchise’s most iconic characters.
Overwatch has enjoyed its fair share of crossovers in recent months, with the likes of Street Fighter, Gundam Wing, and even K-pop group Le Sserafim. Now, with Season 17 underway, a new collab is on the way.
This time, it’s G.I. that’s getting a line of skins, bringing the iconic action figure brand, which has since spawned spin-off comics, TV shows, and movies, to the game for the first time.
Here’s everything we know about the event so far, including which characters are set to be included.
G.I. Joe OW2 event start date
The G.I. crossover arrives on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, as announced by Blizzard. It hasn’t been confirmed how long it will last for, but we expect it to run for either seven days or two weeks, if previous events are anything to go by.

In the past, big collaborations like this arrived in the mid-season patch, which will drop sometime around July 22, 2025. However, the Gundam Wing event broke this trend by releasing just a week into Season 16, so it could be sooner rather than later.
We’ll be sure to update this page as soon as we know more.
All OW2 x G.I. Joe skins
Five skins have been revealed as part of the event by Blizzard, all of which see OW2 heroes get a makeover inspired by a G.I. Joe character. Check them out below:
- Snake Eyes – Genji
- Scarlett – Freja
- Cobra Commander – Reaper
- Baroness – Widowmaker
- Destro – Doomfist
On top of all these outfits, there will also be a limited-time event where players can get free G.I. Joe-themed cosmetics, such as Sprays and Name Cards, by completing challenges.
How to get G.I. Joe skins
There’s no word yet on how players will be able to get their hands on these new skins, but based on past crossovers, they will likely be available from the in-game store using OW Coins. You’ll have the option to buy an individual skin for your preferred hero, or a bundle containing all five.
We’ll have to wait for the full announcement to know the exact pricing, but you can expect them to be somewhere around the 2,500 OW Coin mark.
