Overwatch 2 Stadium ranks and rewards explained

Overwatch 2 Stadium ranks and rewards

Overwatch 2‘s new Stadium mode comes with its own separate ranking system, rewarding players for climbing the Leagues.

Following on from Perks in Season 15, Stadium mode is one of the biggest additions in Overwatch 2 for many years. This new permanent mode doubles down on the power fantasy of each hero, allowing you to create builds that would totally break the meta in regular matches.

Since it’s a vastly different experience from traditional OW, it also has its own ranked system away from normal Competitive mode. So, if you plan on entering the Stadium in Season 16, here’s a breakdown of the Leagues and rewards.

Overwatch 2 Stadium Leagues

All players start at the bottom in Stadium, and there are seven Leagues to climb through. They’re all listed below:

  • Rookie
  • Novice
  • Contender
  • Elite
  • Pro
  • All-Star
  • Legend

Each League is also broken into smaller Divisions. In regular Competitive, there are five in each rank, but it hasn’t been revealed how many Stadium will have. It’s also worth remembering that each role is awarded a different rank, so you could be a Novice Tank while being an All-Star Support.

Winning a match will earn you points, allowing you to climb the ladder to reach higher Leagues and earn rare rewards along the way. However, losing matches takes points away, causing you to slide back down into lower Divisions.

As you’d expect, the higher you rise, the more difficult opponents you’ll face, increasing the risk of a loss. So, once the meta settles down and higher-skill players have made their way up to Legend, you should be coming up against opponents of a similar skill level to your own.

Resets

Stadium will receive a ranked reset at the start of every new Overwatch 2 season, so the first will arrive in Season 17. This knocks all players back down to Rookie and tasks them with making their ascent up the Leagues all over again.

Not only does this keep the mode feeling fresh for anyone who finds themselves stuck in a Division they can’t break out of, but it also levels the playing field when new characters and powers are added in each major update.

Rewards

Overwatch 2 Stadium rewards

Blizzard has confirmed that there will be Epic skins handed out for different heroes each season for reaching Elite or higher. These will vary depending on which role you play to reach that League, so there will be a total of three up for grabs per season, with the first batch being Moira, Orisa, and Genji.

There are also Stadium-exclusive Weapon Charms, Name Cards, and Titles up for grabs depending on where you finish at the end of a season, at which point the rewards will be changed.

You’ll also earn Competitive Points for each win and before every reset, depending on your final position, which can be exchanged for Weapon Variants like Galactic Weapons.

Meanwhile, as a one-off reward to celebrate the launch of Stadium, any players who reach All-Star in Season 16 will unlock the All-Star Juno skin.
