Major MLB The Show 25 change set to turn away thousands of players

PC players usually have the biggest bone to pick with San Diego Studio about MLB The Show not being available on their platform, but this year, Xbox players also have a complaint.

MLB The Show 06 was the first game in the series. For the first 14 years, the franchise was a PlayStation exclusive, but MLB The Show 21 finally brought it to Xbox.

That year’s installment was also added to Game Pass, meaning subscribers could play it on day one if they were subscribed to the service.

This was a groundbreaking move for the series because it finally attracted a much larger audience. The following three titles continued the trend of making it a day-one release on Game Pass.

However, that streak officially ends with MLB The Show 25.

MLB The Show 25 isn’t on Xbox Game Pass

MLB The Show 25 is not on Xbox Game Pass. San Diego Studio did not state why the game isn’t on the service this year, but thousands of Game Pass subscribers will have to purchase the game instead.

Without Game Pass, Xbox players have two options to purchase MLB The Show 25. The Standard edition costs $69.99 and launches on March 18. However, if you don’t want to wait that long to step up to the plate, the Digital Deluxe edition costs $99.99, and early access started on March 14.

In addition to the base game, the digital deluxe edition includes several Diamond Dynasty packs and 20,000 Stubs to give your team a headstart.

It remains to be seen if the series plans to return to Game Pass eventually. We won’t know how much of a difference this decision makes on sales and player count until the game officially releases next week.
