Minecraft’s new game drop is almost upon us, bringing a variety of adorable features from unique animal variations, a major biome overhaul, and so much more.
The beauty of Minecraft is its creativity, but that creativity is often stunted when there’s not the right block for your new house, or fun trials to explore during your hunt for diamonds… and they do say no house is a home without a dog (or a pet wolf on this occasion). Luckily, Mojang’s regular updates grant exactly that, from new blocks to immersive features that will bring your world to life.
The Spring To Life game drop is no different, and Minecraft Live 2025 has revealed all it has to offer, as well as a release date. So, here’s all you need to know about the next Minecraft game drop.
Minecraft Spring To Life release date
The Spring To Life Minecraft game drop will be released on March 25, 2025.
While no release time has been announced, the previous Garden Awakens update was released at 11 AM ET, which is 8 AM PT. So, we expect it to drop around this time for Spring To Life too.
Everything announced for Spring To Life
One of the main aspects to remember with Minecraft drops is that they serve as smaller updates rather than the ones we’ve seen previously. As such, Mojang is adopting the ‘little but often’ method. So don’t expect there to be tons of new features. Nevertheless, there are still new blocks, mobs, and more.
Animal Variants
One of the larger changes coming to Minecraft in the Spring To Life game drop is animal variants. Essentially, these will feature visual changes to cows, pigs, and chickens depending on the biome you find yourself in.
So far, we know the following animals will be added:
- Cold Cow: Found in cold climates and inspired by Highland cows.
- Hot Pig: Found in hot climates inspired by the Red River hog.
- Cool Chicken: Found in cool climates and is inspired by Polish Chickens with their stylish head crest.
- Warm Chicken: Found in warm climates.
While these were the only animals announced during Minecraft Live, those exploring the Java snapshot and Bedrock preview have seen warm chickens too, which sport brown plumage, it was also featured in the background of the announcement, leading us to think it’s likely coming too.
Unique biome blocks
Some brand-new blocks are also arriving in the game drop. The primary additions include a Firefly bush which will attract glowing fireflies that fly above the item at night, various new cactus flowers, dry grass for the desert and badlands, and additional falling leaves around trees.

These won’t alter your gameplay but are designed to heighten the design of Minecraft before its massive visual overhaul.
New sounds
To help increase your immersion, brand new sounds will be coming to Minecraft to accompany the decoration blocks.
Both the Leaf Litter and Firefly bush will have their own unique sounds. On top of this, there will be new whisper sounds in deserts so you can hear the sand and winds coursing through the biome, and a few more personalities from the wolves’ howls (they’re now real dog barks).
Spawn Egg changes
Along with the new blocks, sounds, and animal variants, Minecraft’s Spawn eggs will receive a massive overhaul.

Every egg will now look more like the animal it produces, making it much easier to recognize the difference between a chicken and a skeleton or a fox and an Ocelot.
Next Minecraft game drop: All we know
The next Minecraft 2025 game drop will be introducing the Vibrant Visuals update and a variety of new Ghast mobs.
Vibrant Visuals will completely overhaul the game’s current design, implementing new water animations, and lighting, and will upgrade the graphics many have come to know and love. Every block will be altered in some way, making it the first major visual overhaul in 16 years.
Then, coming later in 2025, players will gain access to the following new features:
- Dried Ghast: Found in the Nether and can be brought into the overworld where you must pour water on it.
- Ghastling: Putting water on the Dried Ghast will create a Ghastling, a small baby Ghast that floats around the Overworld. You can feed it with snowballs.
- Happy Ghast: When the Ghastling grows up it becomes a Happy Ghast. This is friendly and is rideable using a Ghast Harness.
- Ghast Harness: Allows you and up to 4 players to ride a Happy Ghast.
- Locator Bar: A new feature that allows you to see where other players are. Located between your inventory and heath UI.
Unfortunately, we don’t currently have a release date for this update, but as soon as it’s revealed, we’ll update this page, so check back soon.
