How to make a Crafter block & auto-craft in Minecraft

Minecraft Crafter

Added at the beginning of the Minecraft 1.21 update, the Crafter enables players to automatically craft an item using the new block, making most survival runs so much easier.

The Crafter is the go-to block for streamlining recipes and saving serious time in Minecraft. Just pop in the ingredients in the right layout, hook it up to power, and it’ll start churning out items on its own – no extra clicks needed.

Perfect for mass-producing arrows, gear, or even all the blocks you’ll need to build your next masterpiece, the Crafter is a game-changer. But before you jump in, you’ll need to know how to build it and set up autocrafting. Here’s a full breakdown to get you started.

How to use a Crafter

Putting a Crafter to work is quite simple, just follow these steps:

  1. Place the Crafter wherever you like.
  2. Place a Chest in front of it.
  3. Right-click the Crafter to open its interface.
  4. It looks just like a regular Crafting Table, so put the materials of the item you want to make, and that’s it.

The Chest in front of it will safeguard everything that comes out of the Crafter.

How to auto-craft

To auto-craft in Minecraft, you’ll first need to work out how often you want something to be made.

If it’s just one, then all you need to do is fill the Crafter with the right recipe, stick a button or lever on the side of the Crafter, and click/pull it. Then, whenever you want the resource again, click the button.

Alternatively, you could use Redstone repeaters to make the Crafter drop multiple items in succession, which is ideal for the likes of fences, torches (if you’re heading to a cave), or a specific building block for your home.
