TimTheTatman couldn’t believe his eyes after watching a cheater effortlessly dispatch a Vanguard in Marvel Rivals with just one shot.
NetEase has made a concerted effort to crack down on cheating in Marvel Rivals. As part of the January Season 1 update, the devs removed mods so players didn’t gain advantages, such as seeing enemies more easily.
The update also implemented measures to prevent players from trying to use a keyboard and mouse on consoles. In addition, a screen was added to notify the lobby whenever a cheater was identified during a match.
In February, the devs followed up by revealing a plan to prevent the use of third-party plugins. Despite these efforts, cheaters always find a way to slip through the cracks, and TimTheTatman experienced it first-hand.
TimTheTatman warns devs about overpowered cheaters
TimTheTatman spectated a Marvel Rivals player using Magneto, who has 650 health points. A Psylocke somehow managed to eliminate the tank in one shot, which shouldn’t be possible.
Tim watched the replay from both perspectives and couldn’t understand how the blatant cheater wasn’t detected.
It’s strange because the Psylocke didn’t one-shot any other enemies, but something was clearly off about the gameplay. Regardless of whether you land a shot or not, no attack can do 650 damage like that.
“Marvel, we woo, we have a problem,” Tim said. “Hackers can one-shot; they are one-shotting.”
It’s unclear if the hacker was discovered later, but it’s scary to know that you can be one-shot at any moment. Hopefully, TimTheTatman sharing the clip will be enough for the developers to take notice and respond accordingly.
