Marvel Rivals player discovers insane one-shot combo that counters support ults

A Marvel Rivals player has discovered that, under the perfect circumstances, Venom’s ult can be used to one-shot straight through support ults, with it possibly changing the way Marvel Rivals is played.

Finding a counter to triple heal has been a huge problem in MR’s early days. While heroes like Scarlet Witch counter it in theory with ults that one-shot through heals, getting her ult off is much harder than it’d seem. Every ult that one-shots is very telegraphed and somewhat easy to counter if you know what you’re doing. Unless you’re fighting a Venom.

One player has discovered that, with just the right combination of abilities, Venom is able to fully one-shot non-tank heroes, even through support ults.

While you likely won’t see this combo in your average solo queue game due to it being a bit difficult to coordinate, it has the potential to change the competitive meta.

Venom one-shot combo may change Marvel Rivals

Finding a true one-shot in Marvel Rivals isn’t easy. Most heroes require at least 2 hits to actually get a kill, or, in the case of Hawkeye and Black Widow (if you have a damage boost), it requires a high level of precision.

Any one-shot ult comes with a ton of caveats and a big blinking red circle that tells you exactly where it’s coming from. It’s not ideal.

Venom doesn’t have any of those issues. His ult lands in a huge AoE with a very short windup, and, combo-ed with his downward slam that knocks up, is very difficult to escape.

However, it also deals 50% current health damage with only 50 damage on top. The ability was built not to one-shot, but, with the right combination of abilities, it can.

Marvel Rivals player Andr3w discovered and showed off some brand-new Venom tech. If Venom can get his ult off while buffed by both Luna Snow and Mantis’ damage boost, it’ll one shot targets up to 300 health. This also works with Rocket’s Ult giving a 40% damage boost.

For exact math, Luna’s ult provides a 40% boost and Mantis inspire gives 12%, pushing it to a max of 304 damage against 300 HP targets. That extra 50 damage tacked on falls off at some point, but not before that break point of one-shotting almost every hero in the game.

So, while it won’t get through tanks, it will instantly take out most DPS heroes, as well as supports like Invisible Woman, Luna Snow, and Cloak and Dagger in a way that’s much easier than lining up a Magneto ult on Cloak or setting up for Scarlet Witch.

This combo also counters support ult stacking, something even the incredibly strong Human Torch/Storm combo can’t shred through.

What’s more, support ults instantly end after the hero who casted them dies. This means that, even if Venom only hits one hero with his ult, it’ll still be a huge W for the team and likely win you the fight.

While the devs are trying to find ways to nerf triple heal without killing the support role, there’s a good chance the real solution is in the hands of players getting inventive with how they combo damage boosts.
