NetEase confirmed a 10-year-plan for Marvel Rivals, which will include esports, crossover events, and more.
Since launching in December 2024, Marvel Rivals has continuously received updates that both balance the experience and introduce fresh content.
The Season 1 and Season 1.5 changes have proven the most significant by far, adding Fantastic Four heroes, new maps, and modes. A pair of seasonal events – Winter Celebration and Spring Festival – similarly shook up the action for a time.
Plus, NetEase’s ability to act on fan feedback could very well keep the user base invested long-term. It makes sense, then, that the company’s plans for the future extend far beyond what’s already been accomplished.
Marvel Rivals studio commits to 10 years of support
In a Q4 2024 earnings call (via The Gamer), NetEase fielded questions from investors about plans to support Marvel Rivals and its growing player base, which has already eclipsed 40 million users.
The company responded by revealing its belief that the hero shooter could enjoy a 10-year run. NetEase told investors,
“Marvel Rivals, especially after Season One, has gained wide appraisal from worldwide players. This is a product we’re going to keep investing in, both in development and in marketing. We do believe this is a product we’re going to keep operating, keep enhancing, and keep investing in for ten years and beyond.”

Notably, esports and collaborations with other media play a part in this decade-long vision for the shooter, as well.
“The team does have plans for esports. We’re going to announce our esports plans to further enhance our gaming ecosystem. We’re also going to do a lot of crossover events and promotions with other media in the future.”
The developer stopped short of offering specifics; thus, the Marvel Rivals team’s intentions for esports and crossovers remain under wraps.
Still, the immediate future looks bright, if teases about a potential X-Men theme for Season 2 prove accurate.
