Broken Marvel Rivals feature is a nightmare for solo queue players

Marvel Rivals wolvering angry at pinging issue

Marvel Rivals‘ ping system isn’t doing solo queuers any favors. The idea is great, but execution not so much.

In online gaming, effective communication is essential, and pinging is one of the easiest ways to coordinate without voice chat. Whether you’re marking enemy positions, highlighting objectives, or calling for help, the ping wheel is supposed to make all that smoother.

In Marvel Rivals, this feature is supposed to be your non-verbal ally. The system allows players to ping locations, enemies, or objectives using a wheel that can be customized, so you’d think it would work without issues. Unfortunately, it doesn’t.

Marvel Rivals’ pinging isn’t the best

I, in fact, cannot heal.

Pinging should be intuitive. It should allow you to mark an enemy charging at you, tell your team “I need help,” or point out a critical objective. But more often than not in Marvel Rivals, you end up telling your team you’re fine and “I CAN HEAL!” while you’re being pummeled into oblivion by an Iron Fist‘s punches or a Magik‘s massive sword.

It’s frustrating. Instead of providing clarity, the ping wheel seems to have a mind of its own. You’ll hover over an enemy, desperately trying to alert your teammates, only to have it trigger a random command like “I need healing” because the system couldn’t pick up your intent.

The ping wheel opens up when you’re just trying to track a moving target, and suddenly you’re forced to pick between “Need Healing” and “Defend Here” in the middle of a fight. Why does it default to saying “I can heal” when your character is clearly under fire, not in need of healing?

When solo queueing, I often stay away from open mic comms, so pinging is the one way I tell my teammates if I can heal them, if I need help, or if I’ve spotted an enemy. But this wheel that too often has me looking like a clown asking for healing when I’m about to be rez’d by the enemy instead.

Other players agree. One even complained about console pinging, mentioning how “I can heal” is the most annoying thing ever. And the constant confusion between pings isn’t just frustrating; it’s hurting team coordination.

Best ping settings in Marvel Rivals

I’ve tinkered with settings, adjusting sensitivities in hopes of fixing this mess, but even my ‘perfect’ setup can’t fix it all.

  1. Go to Settings-> Keyboard -> Communication -> Ping Communication, then scroll down to Advanced.
  2. Set everything to 100, except for Enemy Signal Sensitivity – set that to 0.

This makes your pings more accurate without accidentally triggering random commands, like “I need healing” when you’re fine.

For even better results, change your ping hotkey to the scroll wheel up (keep “Next Weapon” as scroll wheel down).

The sensitivity settings are a bit backwards: 100 gives you precise targeting, while 0 makes it broader. Trust me, this lets you ping enemies from far away with ease.

One player hit the nail on the head when they said, “Honestly, Apex Legends has the best ping system.”

It’s true. To this day, Apex Legends has the gold standard when it comes to pings, and Marvel Rivals should take notes. Apex’s system is context-sensitive, easy to use, and, most importantly, it actually works when you need it to.

You can mark enemies, call for help, or spot loot without worrying about your ping wheel randomly opening or the wrong command being sent.

Marvel Rivals needs to step up, refine its system, and prioritize what matters – clear communication. Until that happens, I guess I’ll be stuck yelling at my screen while the ping wheel mocks me.
