netease / marvelMarvel Rivals has an in-game store chock-full of cosmetics you can purchase, but there are also plenty of free skins to unlock if you know where to look.
Just like Overwatch and other online shooting games, Marvel Rivals is free to play, making money from in-game purchases rather than charging an entry fee.
With this in mind, if you want most of the Battle Pass rewards or colorful costumes for your favorite characters, you usually have to pay for the privilege. However, there is also a selection of skins that are available at no extra cost – so here’s a breakdown of them all and how to get them in Season 3.
Free Marvel Rivals skins (August 2025)
There are currently twelve free skins available to claim in the game, thanks to the addition of the latest limited-time midseason Twitch Drops campaign.

While a lot of these skins are only available for a limited time, it’s worth noting that the ones from the Battle Pass are an exception, but only if you purchase the Luxury tier. Although this means they’re essentially no longer free, they will not have an expiration date and can be unlocked at your own pace.
How to get free skins
There are several ways to obtain free skins, but the two most common methods are through the Battle Pass or Heroic Achievements. While the majority of skins in the Pass are exclusive to the Luxury tier, some skins are made up for grabs for everyone in the free tier, only requiring Chrono Tokens to unlock.
Meanwhile, you can also get free Storm and Star-Lord skins by earning Heroic Achievement points for completing specific challenges. However, these don’t rotate, so once you’ve unlocked both, there are no more to get.

Although many of the free skins in the hero shooter are permanently available, others expire once they’ve been live for a certain length of time or when a season is over. So far, 25 have been and gone, including the Twitch Drop Magneto skin and the rewards from closed alpha and beta.
