The reveal of Magic: The Gathering’s crossover with Final Fantasy has been met with pretty unprecedented anticipation. As part of the overall offering, there are four brand new Commander Decks with some interesting archetypes to play around.
Wizards of the Coast has made a significant move towards producing more collaborative sets with existing franchises, particularly following very notable sets like The Lord of the Rings and Fallout over the last few years.
This has ramped up significantly since the move to “align the universes” at the start of 2025. This saw all MTG sets become legal in all formats, greatly increasing the appeal of diving into Universes Beyond sets for those who had previously been put off.
All of that combines to make this Final Fantasy release an exciting watermark, so here’s everything you need to know about the Commander offerings.
Final Fantasy Commander Decks & archetypes detailed

As mentioned earlier, there are four decks to jump into this time around, with the major twist on the usual format this time around being that each is related to a different Final Fantasy deck. The four decks to look out for are as follows:
- Final Fantasy 6: Revival Trance (Red/White/Black)
- Final Fantasy 7: Limit Break (Red/White/Green)
- Final Fantasy 10: Counter Blitz (Blue/White/Green)
- Final Fantasy 11: Scions of Spellcraft (White, Blue, Black)
The Final Fantasy 6 deck is led by Terra, Herald of Hope, while Limit Break is commanded by Cloud, Ex-Soldier from Final Fantasy 7. Final Fantasy 10 has Tidus, Yuna’s Guardian and Final Fantasy 14 has Y’shtola, Night’s Blessed.
With a few months to go before the sets eventual release, it will be interesting to see how these Commander Decks stack up to other offerings. With plenty of seemingly useful cards in the reveals so far, there’s plenty of reason to think you’ll be seeing more than a few decks used at local tournaments.
