Gen.G triumph over T1 at MSI 2025: Schedule, recap & more

MSI trophy

MSI 2025 has concluded, with T1 falling just short of stealing an international away from this year’s incredibly dominant Gen.G roster. T1 may have won Worlds 2024, but Gen.G has proven that MSI is theirs by defending their 2024 title.

It was the first MSI since the new regional mergers created the LCP and LTA systems, changing the way that many teams qualify and potentially eliminating the ability for smaller regions to make it to the event. The now-former LCS only got 1 slot this time around, with LTA North and South each getting one slot at the event.

And, though the LTA North only has one slot, FlyQuest truly showed what NA is made of. They were one match away from knocking out BLG and making their way into the top 4. CBTC Flying Oyster also made their mark, taking T1 to a game 5 and knocking out Europe’s #1 seed, MAD Lions KOI.

All of this combined with a record-breaking number of 5 game sets has made this one of the most hype MSI events in years, with every team pushing each other to the brink.

Here’s the full schedule for MSI 2025 so you can catch up on the action and see how this year’s international unfolded.

How to watch MSI 2025

MSI 2025 was, as usual, livestreamed on Riot Games’ official Twitch channel. It went from June 27-July 12, with the Esports World Cup kicking off just 4 days later from July 16-20. Gen.G and T1 will both have to hop right back on the international stage and compete for a $2 million prize pool just days after the event ends.

Play-Ins

Play-Ins had the four second-seed teams from the LPL (China), LEC (Europe), LPC (APAC), and LTA (Americas) duking it out to see who will qualify into the Bracket Stage.

Since an LCK team won First Stand at the beginning of the year, South Korea’s second seed team will get to skip the play-ins entirely.

G2 narrowly avoided getting reverse swept by GAM Esports, bringing it back in the very last game of the set. And, though G2 did make it out, they weren’t in top form.

Knockout Stage

MSI 2025’s knockout stage has been a double-elimination bracket, with Gen.G being the only team that hasn’t lost a set yet. Here’s the full schedule for the rest of the event:
