As the Year of the Ox draws ever closer, League of Legends is celebrating the Lunar New Year in style by unleashing the Lunar Beast event onto the server.
One of the skins included is for Viego, the Ruined King whose blade we’ve all come to know and, well, not love. For tips on how to play the newest addition to Summoner’s Rift, we’ve compiled a guide right here. After all, he’s getting a new skin this time around so might as well give him a go right?
Ready to save the celebration? Here’s everything we know about the event.
League of Legends Lunar Beast 2021 skins
Blending neo-futuristic vibes with a more traditional style, the Lunar Beast skins represent the perfect balance of old meets new. They’re available for Alistair, Annie, Aphelios, Darius, Fiora, Jarvan IV and Viego, with the Aphelios and Viego skins being unique to LoL.
All of the skins will set you back 1350 RP. You can buy them all in a bundle for 16,336 RP though — including a few extra goodies — if you really want to celebrate in style.
The Lunar Beast event is also giving League players their first Prestige skin of 2021. This time around, our favorite French-woman Fiora has been given the honors.
With her futuristic red outfit and blue hair transformed into white and gold with a pink touch, it’ll be an exciting grind to score this skin.
Riot GamesThe Crystal and Withered Rose skins for Swain, Zyra, Syndra, and Talon are also available during the event for 1350 RP.
League of Legends Lunar Beast 2021 event pass details
The best way to make the most out of the Lunar Beast event is by picking up the battle pass. If you want to farm rewards — including the Prestige Fiora skin — you’ll need to pick it up.
It’ll set you back 1650 RP, but you get plenty of bang for your buck. It comes with 200 Lunar Beast 2021 tokens, as well as four Orbs full of loot.
The pass also gives you access to special Milestone missions. These missions have 20 Prestige Points on the line, as well as some emotes, Blue and Orange Essence, Hextech Chests and Orbs. If you are going to grind out some League, there’s no harm in picking it up.

The Lunar Beast event is different to other League of Legends events. Instead of all the missions being added at once, they’ll be spaced out across four weeks.
All the missions will expire at the end of the event though, so don’t worry if you miss a week. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

League of Legends Lunar Beast 2021 release & end date
You’ll be able to undertake the journey through Runeterra from February 4, when the event will go live. The event will last for a month, wrapping up on March 8, 2021.
You’ll have under March 22 to spend your tokens, and then the next event is likely to kick off!
