xQc / Rockstar GamesxQc has addressed the rumors that Rockstar will place a $100 price tag on GTA 6, defending it from critics by arguing the value of high-quality, polished AAA titles, is worth the premium.
The supposed price of the upcoming title was predicted by an analyst on March 6, with some other reports suggesting it could be $150 when released. Various fans in the community have criticized the rumored price and the Take-Two CEO has addressed the concerns.
On March 10, xQc, who is also co-owner of the massively popular NoPixel GTA RP server, has hit back at the backlash via a response to a post about the potential price.
“Gamers will buy 5 early access, half baked $140 games and sprinkle $300 worth of skins in a year, but when a AAA company goes all out and take their time to make the most anticipated polished product we know they can make, suddenly $100 is too much? Stop talking.”
$100 price tag sparks debate
One fan contested: “$100 is fair ONLY for GTA 6, legit. I don’t think there is any other game in the industry that would be worth so much money and had so much money put into its production.”
Others agreed, with one adding: “Waiting 12 years for the biggest game of all time man $100 is worth it,” and another saying, “Will buy a $20 game with $300 microtransactions but $100 for the best game to ever touch planet earth is too crazy.”
However, some remained unconvinced. “A video game costing $100 is crazy when games are barely complete at launch and have bugs… Games better come out 100% completed with no bugs or nothing for $100.”
Others echoed concerns, saying: “They make more than enough money it should cost normal price.”
Despite the rumored price point for GTA 6 dividing the community, Rockstar hasn’t said a thing about it. These are just rumors and predictions that have been speculated on.
Some commenters worried that this could set a precedent, with one saying, “People are not seeing how this open doors for other developers to make their games $100 too.” Another added, “If GTA 6 is $100, that opens up for other games to try and push that price.”
Game developers and analysts have claimed that the upcoming GTA’s cost price could cause others to increase the price for games across the industry.
