A whole lot more of GTA 6‘s various locations have been revealed by Rockstar following the release of the game’s long-awaited Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025.
Following confirmation of a delay on May 2, GTA 6 is now scheduled for release on May 26, 2026. From the platforms it’ll release on to details on its protagonist, GTA 6’s second trailer gave us plenty to sift through, including several new locations players will be exploring as dual protagonists James and Lucia.
So, exactly where is GTA 6 taking place? And what sights can you expect to see in the newest entry in Rockstar’s iconic series? Here’s what you need to know.

GTA 6 officially takes place in the fictional state of Leonida. Evidently a play on Florida, this sprawling locale delivers everything from the “neon-soaked streets” of the beloved Vice City to more rural areas near the waterfront.
Seemingly taking place in the current generation, with plenty of modern innovations present in the trailer, Leonida looks to be a state rife with wannabe social media influencers, budding gangsters, hillbillies, and everything in between.

Vice City
The metropolitan heart of Leonida, Vice City in the modern day has never been seen in GTA until now. Expect the city to be packed with expensive hotels, even more exclusive beaches and more opportunities for a life of crime than a cop can shake a truncheon at.
Leonida Keys
A tropical archipelago far removed from the concrete playground that is Vice City, Leonida Keys has all the trappings you’d expect of a tourist resort, including yachts aplenty and the opportunity to go scuba diving.

Grassrivers
In stark contrast to Leonida Keys, Grassrivers lies off the beaten path and is the last place tourists will want to go. The vast marshlands are home to natural predators aplenty, and no doubt a safe haven for more than one criminal enterprise.
Port Gellhorn
If you’ve ever set foot in GTA V’s sparsely populated Blaine County, Port Gellhorn is going to be a familiar sight. Rockstar bills this location as one filled with cheap motels, rundown tourist attractions and abandoned strip malls.
Ambrosia
Ambrosia is all about industry, but not necessarily of the kind you’re thinking. Motorbike gangs call this gritty district home.
Mount Kalaga
If getting back to nature if your vibe, Mount Kalaga’s going to be your preferred hangout. While it no doubt plays host to dangerous wildlife like Grassrivers, there’s no marshland to worry about. Stray off the beaten path, though, and you might find yourself encountering some less-than-savory sights.
Trailer 2 screenshots
Rockstar released the long-awaited Trailer 2 for GTA 6 on May 6, 2025 as well as a ton of new in-game screenshots. The story-focused footage showed dual protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos visiting various locales around Vice City.
