GTA 6 police car used in development is actually up for sale

A police car that was used in the making of Grand Theft Auto 6 has gone up for sale, and it doesn’t look to be that expensive.

The hype around Grand Theft Auto 6 is at levels that no game has seen for quite some time. Rockstar Games’ long-awaited title has even managed to avoid having expectations lowered by the delay to May 26, 2026.

Fans have been scouring the two trailers and almost 100 screenshots of GTA 6 for new information and details. Some of the most sought-after details revolve around cars, especially as it appears some of the newer ones have already appeared in GTA Online.

So, when it surfaces online that Rockstar has been scanning some real-world cars to use for their in-game models, who wouldn’t want to get their hands on one of them?

Police car used in GTA 6 up at auction

Well, as Redditor Ok-Zucchini-4956 pointed out, a car that has been decaled up for the Vice City Police Department is actually up for auction.

The 2013 Chevrolet Caprice, which is based in Colorado, has been listed on Kraft Auctions and has a current bid of $3250. It started at $10, but it was hardly going to sell for that price.

“This car is one of the actual used models for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI video game and was 3D scanned directly into the game meaning you’ll be able to drive this exact car in the game,” the listing reads. “This car was driven to promote the new GTA 6 game releasing in 2025. Car is completely street legal and complies with all legal regulations for driving a “Replica” police car.”

The police car is expected to fetch a high price.

The only mistake in the listing is that it says the game will release in 2025. Obviously, that’s no longer the case, but Take-Two has reassured fans that the May 26, 2026 release date is firm.

Confirming that it was actually used in the development would probably come after someone has bought it, likely through photos of it on set with Rockstar.

The listing is set to end on August 23, where someone – probably a top Grand Theft Auto fan – will be driving away with it.
