GTA 6 fans are split over leaks that Rockstar Games has been contacting Fortnite and Roblox creators about tools for the new online experience.
2025 is supposed to be the year that Grand Theft Auto 6 finally releases to the world, but Rockstar Games have remained silent so far. The GTA developers have not commented on the game since releasing the first trailer at the end of 2023. That has made some players a bit antsy.
Take-Two, Rockstar’s publisher, have confidence that it’ll release in 2025, but have admitted there is a possible chance GTA 6 slips to a 2026 release too.
There have also been a few leaks recently about Rockstar contacting Fortnite and Roblox creators to assist with GTA 6’s online side of things.
GTA 6 fans unsure on plans to copy Fortnite
The report from Digiday claims that creators have been contacted about “the potential to create custom experiences inside the upcoming game.” While that is exciting to some, not everyone is sold.
“This now, this does worry me. I’m hoping it’s just to improve on the Rockstar Creator for an improved job creation. Not a fortnitification of GTA,” Redditor JustUrAvg-Depresso said. “Doesn’t sound like Rockstar if you ask me,” commented another.
“Fortnite is the type of game GTA should be making fun of like they did Halo. Not trying to copy,” another added.
Those fans who are excited believe that the “possibilities are endless” and pointed to GTA RP as a key example.
“SixM could very well be like what Roblox / UEFN is. Players would be able to create experiences with Rockstar’s own custom-built engine without having any modding experience,” one said.
“Why is this a bad thing? Imagine how fire it would be if they made GTA 6 like UEFN,” commented another.
This hasn’t been the only leak about GTA 6 recently. There are also claims that DJ Khaled will join the game with his own radio station. So, things are clearly ramping up.
