A supposed Grand Theft Auto 6 ‘dev’ has added to hopes that the game will actually be released in 2025. However, fans aren’t completely sold.
At the end of 2023, Rockstar Games finally gave the gaming world the news they were after, revealing the first look at GTA 6. Set in a modern-day Vice City, the long-awaited title is set to shatter tonnes of pre-order and sale records.
However, since that announcement, Rockstar have been very quiet. They’ve left everything to Take-Two, their publishers. Despite reports of a delay, the Grand Theft Auto publishers are confident that things are still on track for a 2025 release.
That has been added to by different Rockstar employees, who’ve posted job listings for the biggest release of 2025.

Now, someone else claiming to work at the iconic game studio has also chimed in, talking about the leaks that came before the initial trailer.
“They don’t discourage devs, but it can be an absolute mood killer to work on something for years and have the reveal/announcement pulled out from under your feet by a leaker looking for some fame/clout,” they said in a now-deleted post.
“I’m at a studio working on what will be 2025’s biggest release and we had celebration plans for releasing our reveal trailer which were completely thwarted when the trailer leaked the night before.”
Given that the comment has been deleted, and Rockstar keeps a very tight-knit on things pre-release, some fans aren’t sure whether to buy what is being sold.
“Nobody’s putting their job at risk to post comments on Reddit,” one said. “Even if this guy does work at Rockstar, 95% of the staff there won’t know the release date. That’s a discussion only a few select members of the highest level of management would be part of,” another argued.
Some information about GTA 6 has, of course, leaked on Reddit over the last few years – including development screenshots and details about what was planned for the trailer.
Rockstar have attempted to curb these leaks by bringing staff back into offices instead of remote working. Though, that hasn’t gone down well with devs either.
