Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has, once again, downplayed concerns that Grand Theft Auto 6 may suffer another delay to the release date.
Initially, Rockstar Games had planned to release Grand Theft Auto 6 at the end of 2025. However, back in early May, they announced that wasn’t going to be the case as they needed more time to polish things.
Rockstar and Take-Two announced that GTA 6 will release on May 26, 2026, and released a second trailer to quell any fears. However, they’ve been pretty quiet about things since, making some fans angsty again.
Some experts have pointed to November and December being the next key points, suggesting that the pre-order process will start around then. However, there are some fans still worried that the game will be delayed even further.
GTA 6 boss isn’t worried about another delay
Well, Strauss Zelnick, Take-Two’s CEO, isn’t worried about that and is confident that Rockstar will hit their May 2026 release point.
“May 26, 2026, level of conviction there?” the CNBC host asked Zelnick. “My level of conviction is very, very high. Obviously,” he responded.
Zelnick noted that the Rockstar team does have “a lot going on” in the background, but GTA 6 is their “primary focus” right now. He isn’t worried about the expectations on the game either, saying it will be an “amazing” game once it releases.

In terms of what might divert Rockstar’s focus from GTA 6, there have been rumors about a Grand Theft Auto IV remake dropping in the near future. That also follows claims about work on Max Payne remakes.
The Take-Two boss was also coy on the rumored $100 price tag of the game as he wouldn’t reveal a concrete figure.
He did, however, note that Rockstar regularly produces “more value” from their games than the initial price tag. “We’re highly focused on making sure the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it,” he added.
