RP in GTA V  is one of the most interesting mods for Rockstar’s beloved fifth entry in the video game franchise, allowing players to jump into GTA Online in a completely different way through roleplay. The RP mod is an incredibly immersive experience where fans can create their own stories in Los Santos. Roleplaying impacts how both NPCs and other players interact with you, making it stand out from the normal GTA Online — so let’s run through all there is to know, including how you can play and join a server.

Roleplay in GTA 5 explained

GTA V roleplay is a multiplayer mod that’s only available for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V. Players who jump into one of the user-created RP servers can become even more involved in the game as they take on the form of a normal NPC, which can be customized in many different ways and can then use voice chat to communicate with one another in character. Whether you’re a nightclub owner, taxi driver, or a criminal mastermind getting away with the perfect heist, it’s a hugely immersive experience. The level of roleplay you’ll find in a server is ultimately dependent on that particular server. • The roleplaying aspect shifts how some systems work to a more realistic gameplay style. For example: if you’re Wasted in an RP server, you’ll likely have to wait for a paramedic (who’s being RP’d by another player) to arrive and help you.
• In a similar vein, you won’t teleport to jail if you get Busted because you’ll typically need to be driven to the relevant facility by another player.

How to play GTA 5 RP

Although RP is completely free to play as long as you already own a PC copy of GTA 5, you’ll need to download the necessary mods first. Though different servers will require the installation of different mods, from our observation, FiveM seems to be the most widely used one. To download it, simply go to the official website and complete the following steps:

1. 1. Firstly, disable any antivirus software before you attempt to download. Once installed, add FiveM to the whitelist/exclusion list of your antivirus software.
   2. Make sure you are running the latest version of GTA 5.
   3. Run FiveM.exe.
   4. From your Windows start menu, start FiveM.

If the server you want to join uses a different mod, navigate to the mod of your choice website and follow the steps above.

Joining a Server

We’d recommend having a strong idea of the character you’d like to roleplay before applying so consider their backstory and job as well as what they look like.

How to watch GTA RP

Finally, if you’d prefer to watch some roleplaying action before diving into the mod yourself, there are plenty of streamers that share their experiences. The easiest ways to watch GTA Roleplay are via Twitch and YouTube. When it comes to Twitch, you can either search for general GTA RP streams, or dedicated servers, for example, there are usually a handful of people streaming from NoPixel at any given time. There are a lot of creators who also share their streams on YouTube such as xQc. Dedicated GTA RP channels like LennyBarn are also great to get an idea of how it works.
