The real-life inspiration of Haru Urara from Umamusume: Pretty Derby has an official diary that keeps track of the racehorse’s activities.

After Umamusume: Pretty Derby launched globally, thousands have started to become interested in learning more about the real-life inspirations behind the horse racing anime girls. One of the characters who immediately took the spotlight was Haru Urara.

Unlike the majority of the cast, Haru Urara is known for her losing streak due to having zero wins and 113 losses, spanning from 1998 to 2004 during her career.

While that’s the case, the now-retired racehorse has gained many new fans all over the world who are willing to support her by sending her fresh grass. And if they’re curious about how she’s doing right now, they’re in for a treat.

Haru Urara has a real-life diary documenting her activities

As spotted by Automaton, Haru Urara has a site where her owners post various entries documenting her day-to-day activities.

In the Umamusume game and anime, she’s often depicted as a cheerful girl with a positive attitude. Though it turns out, her real-life counterpart can even be “grumpy” too.

According to an entry on July 30, 2025, the retired racehorse wasn’t exactly happy with the tree fellers who visited the ranch. 

Not being able to reach these visitors, she decided to take out her frustration on other horses and rolled in the dirt.

Meanwhile, an older entry from July 16, 2025, shows a more calming side of her, revealing that she spends the day sleeping on a rainy day. Images of her are included with all of these entries, adding to the wholesomeness.

The site also showcases her profile, which says that Haru Urara “seems to like people,” but holding a carrot suggests you may be more approachable. In addition, it states that she loves eating and hates injections.

Haru Urara now lives in Matha Farm in Onjuku, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, where fans can meet her through a reservation.
