We may only be in April, but 2025 is quickly shaping up to be a stellar year for releases. So many GOTY contenders have already been released, but none are as beloved as Blue Prince.
Whether Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already taken the crown for you or Monster Hunter Wilds is your undeniably GOTY winner, 2025 has already released some fantastic games that will make the Game of the Year award a tricky one to decide.
However, one unseen game has swooped in to potentially claim that crown, and most haven’t even heard of it.
Blue Prince becomes highest reviewed game for 2025
Blue Prince is a first-person exploration puzzle game that places players into an estate with the only aim being to reach the 46th room. As you likely predicted, this estate only has 45 rooms, so you’ll need to use your detective skills.

On top of this, the adventure has roguelike and strategy elements, creating a thrilling gameplay look that’s already won the hearts of reviewers.
Currently, as reported by Forbes, Blue Prince has a metascore of 92, which is just one point higher than Split Fiction’s final review score.
Of course, this is purely offered by different outlets who have reviewed the game before its release, and will be subject to change when the community gets their hands on it. However, given more than a third of the reviews are full scores, it stands to reason that this is a game you’ll want to keep an eye out for.
Blue Prince releases on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Xbox Game Pass. This means thousands of players are likely to dive into the adventure when it releases on April 10.
As such, time will tell regarding its praise, but if the reviews are that high, and the praise is that strong, we may just have an unexpected GOTY on our hands.
