And don’t forget the latest addition—Goto Ryuji from the original Solo Leveling series. He’s quickly proven himself as one of the best picks for any team in the current meta.

Meta analysis
The pattern in Solo Leveling: Arise has remained consistent since its launch, with new hunters released through banners often taking over the meta due to arriving with overpowered abilities and high DPS.
The latest additions, Tawata Kanae, Esil Radiru, and Thomas Andre, have quickly risen to dominate the rankings, securing their spots in S-Tier alongside long-standing top-tier hunters like Amamiya Mirei, Charlotte, and Alicia Blanche.
Tawata and Esil, both Fire hunters, have greatly benefited from Netmarble’s heavy buffs to the Fire Element, enabling them to deal insane DPS and making Fire-based teams the most powerful builds. While the previous Light-heavy meta dominated, Go Gunhee and Thomas Andre continue to shine, maintaining their strength just like their counterparts in the Manhwa, while many others have fallen in the rankings.
However, Shimizu Akari has been the weakest of the recent additions, securely placed in B-Tier, while Goto Ryuji, the latest addition on March 13, 2025, remains a viable option in A-Tier despite not shaking up the meta heavily.
As newer characters rise, various older hunters have continued to fall following nerfs or others added are just far better. The biggest shift among top hunters is Go Gunhee, who held his place as the best hunter in Arise for months. He has now dropped from S-Tier, though he remains a strong A-Tier pick. Similarly, Harper, Emma Laurent, and Seo Jiwoo have fallen to B-Tier.
Our tiers explained
- S: The best Hunters in Solo Leveling: Arise.
- A: Very good Hunters. While they’re not top-tier, these are still fantastic characters to use.
- B: There might be situations where they can perform well.
- C: Best to avoid these fighters unless you find yourself drawn to them.
S-Tier
Tawata Kanae

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Superior DPS dealer | Will drain your Mana, so use it carefully |
Incredible Break abilities | Needs Dupes and upgrades to maximise effectiveness |
Excels against high-level bosses | |
Great scaling with upgrades | |
Flexible with single and multiple-target attacks | |
Easy to use |
Tawata Kanae quickly claimed the top spot after her arrival on February 13, 2025. With a diverse set of Fire abilities and attacks, she’s not only incredibly easy and fun to use but also delivers insane attack and Critical Hit damage, solidifying her as one of the best DPS dealers.
Her Break abilities are equally impressive, essential for shredding bosses and enemies, and provide a range of versatile effects that make handling any challenge a breeze. It’s a no-brainer; you need to use her in your team.
Esil Radiru

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Excellent crowd control abilities | Situational crowd control effectiveness |
Decent Break attacks | Relies on team coordination for success |
Solid Ranger unit with impressive ranged attacks | |
Strong versatile utility and abilities | |
Excels in Fire team compositions |
Esil excels in boss fights with her powerful Break attacks and efficiently handles dungeon mobs with her versatile Fire ranged abilities. Like Tawata Kanae, pairing these two new hunters in a Fire team composition is truly meta in Arise, as their abilities complement each other perfectly, creating an unstoppable Fire synergy.
Thomas Andre

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Strong Tank unit | Low damage output |
Provides useful buffs and support | Lacks mobility and utility |
Great for early to mid-game | Outclassed by stronger Tank units |
Thomas Andre is the third-best hunter to use, and he’s still flying the flag for the previously dominant Light-team meta. He deals a huge amount of damage as one of the best DPS dealers, all while still being incredibly hard to eliminate due to his Tank nature.
Amamiya Mirei

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Best DPS unit | Needs upgrades to get the most out of her |
High burst damage dealer | Mana management is vital during fights |
Specializes in single-target DPS | Dependent on Ultimate Skill |
Ever since Amamiya Mirei was added to the gacha on July 31, she’s proved to be one of the strongest DPS characters in Arise, capable of wiping out anybody with ease.
She scales off of her Attack stats, and her gameplay centers around charging up and using her almighty Ultimate Skill. Mirei’s skills can also grant her buffs, which, with everything combined, enable her to inflict insane amounts of Wind Damage and Critical Hit damage.
Charlotte

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
High DPS unit | When not controlling the character, the AI makes her weak |
Can inflict an insane amount of damage with her Ultimate Skill | Fairly dependent on Harper being on your team |
Every skill inflicts high damage | Costly Advancements |
Strong survivability |
Harper’s sister Charlotte, who became available to players a week after her sibling on September 19, has proven to be the more powerful of the two.
The hunter’s key strengths lie in her Ultimate Skill, which deals massive Dark Damage, making her one of the top damage dealers. Additionally, her high Basic Attack damage allows her to maintain constant DPS while quickly charging up her superior Ultimate Skill.
Isla Wright

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
A wide range of effective support buffs for Dark hunters | Needs several Advancements and upgrades to be most effective. |
The ultimate support for Dark teams and Sung Jinwoo | Still very Dark focused |
Impressive Shield and Healing abilities | |
Good DPS for a support character |
Isla Wright is a powerful Dark healer unit that joined Arise in the October 2024 update — and has instantly earned an S-tier in our rankings. Overall, she’s a top choice to combine with Dark-focused teams, especially as a support for Sung Jinwoo.
Players have long awaited a strong support unit focused on enhancing Dark characters, and Isla more than delivers. While Harper brings some Dark support abilities to the table, Isla’s capabilities are far superior.
Alicia Blanche

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Insanely high DPS unit | Complex to use |
High burst damage | Requires several Advancements to be one of the top hunters |
Specialises in AoE attacks and crowd control | |
Unique Freeze abilities | |
Shield increases survivability for her and the team | |
Critical Hit buffs |
Despite being technical to use, the Ice Mage hunter deals massive Water damage and has unique abilities related to her Freezing effect that make her standout on the roster
Not only is she one of the best DPS dealers in Arise, but her Shield and Freeze abilities make her remarkably versatile during fights. However, she heavily depends on character and weapon dupes to level up her Advancement Tiers and grant OP benefits.
A-Tier
Cha Hae-In

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Second best DPS unit | Limited AoE Capabilities |
Excels at dealing high burst damage | Relys on Critical Hit damage |
Greatly benefits from team buffs | Very attack focused |
Stops enemies from healing | |
Strong Advancement benefits |
Cha Hae-In was the best DPS unit when the game launched compared to every other hunter; however, others, such as Amamiya Mirei, have since taken the crown.
She can deal exceptionally high amounts of normal damage and Critical Hit damage combos on your enemies. She can also use a unique ability that stops enemies from healing themselves, which can be key against tough monsters.
Meilin Fisher

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Impressive healer | Relies on high Health to deal high damage |
Vast amount of buffs and debuffs | Some buffs are fairly ineffective or weaken her DPS |
Basic Skill can remove enemy Shield effect quickly |
Meilin Fisher has proved to be a fairly strong support character, who, as a Health-based unit, scales Attacks and buffs for teammates off her Health.
She can boost Water Damage for her and others, which makes her best suited with Alicia Blanche or other Water hunters to be most effective. However, her support skills and abilities are less superior to Min Byung-Gu overall, who remains the best support character in Solo Leveling: Arise.
Go Gunhee

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
High Break abilities | Weak mobility |
Decent DPS unit | Requires multiple advancements to gain strong support buffs |
High survivability | Slow cooldowns |
Strong support skills | Needs a Light team around him to be most effective |
Go Gunhee reigned supreme as the best hunter character in Solo Leveling: Arise since being released into the gacha game on August 28. But his DPS abilities are nowhere near as strong as they once were, and he now heavily relies on other Light hunters.
He scales all of his attacks from his Defense stats as a Light Damage-dealing Tank unit. Not only is the second strongest Break characters, but he also excels at supporting allies with powerful buffs while delivering devastating Critical Hit Damage. Being a Tank, he is also incredibly tough and can stay on the battlefield for long periods.
Goto Ryuji

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
High DPS dealer | Squishy and easy to beat |
Effective buffs for Wind hunters | Wind hunters and teams are not strong in the meta |
Can issue debuff abilities | Relies heavily on Wind hunters |
Doesn’t specialize or excel in one thing over others |
Goto Ryuji has freshly dropped into Arise after making his debut on March 13, 2025. He has gone straight in as a fairly decent but mediocre A-Tier hunter overall. Wind Element hunters are way down the pecking order in general, so it makes his Wind buffs less effective, and there is also an abundance of better Tank units to choose from.
But he still deals sizeable damage from his attacks and also can inflict decent Break damage. Not only this, but his ability to issue several buffs and even some debuffs makes him a versatile hunter to try out and include in your team.
Han Se-Mi

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Major Healing support buffs | Average DPS output |
Can provide Mana recovery | Requires teams with Wind characters to maximise potential |
Impressive survivability | Other support characters offer more benefits |
Perfect support for Amamiya Mirei |
Han Se-Mi is a similar character to Meilin Fisher and can provide major Health buffs to her and teammates via abilities and skills. Despite being a Wind Element unit that can support any character in your hunting team, she is more formidable when paired with Wind hunters due to her unique buffs she can grant.
Min Byung-Gu

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Versatile support unit that will benefit all characters | Specialized support characters may be more beneficial for your team |
Powerful healer | Average DPS in comparison |
Strong Critical Hit buffs | Critical Hit buffs will not benefit Cha Hae-In |
Min Byung-Gu is still the best all-around support character in Arise, who can weaken enemies, as well as heal and buff characters in your hunting team quickly.
He will easily fit into any team, but because his abilities are less specialized, other characters’ support buffs may be better for you depending on your team composition.
Yoo Soohyun

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
High DPS unit | Slow skill animations |
Decent against all elements | Clunky movement |
Effective solo buffs and debuff abilities | |
Powerful with little investment |
Yoo Soohyun instantly became the best Fire Damage dealer in the game when they joined, finally knocking off Choi Jong-In from the top spot. However, the newly added Fire characters of Tawata Kanae and Esil Radiru have stolen the limelight, but if you don’t have either, then Soohyun is a great alternative.
She remains a top-tier DPS in Solo Leveling: Arise, capable of dealing massive damage. Her straightforward yet highly effective abilities make her a valuable asset to any hunting team, especially when fully leveled.
Choi Jong-In

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
High DPS | His biggest weakness is that he can’t deal Critical Hit Damage |
Strong burst damage attacks | Fairly squishy with a lack of survivability |
Benefits greatly when teamed with Fire characters | Requires costly upgrades to maximize full DPS potential |
Longer skill cooldowns for his most powerful abilities |
Choi Jong-In is a strong hunter in Arise, who can deal high amounts of Fire damage at range. His ability to use Burn attacks to constantly weaken enemies, as well as his high-damage Ultimate, means that he can consistently deal waves of decent damage.
Despite being unable to deal Critical Damage, his DPS makes up for it, especially with upgrades. However, following updates and stronger Fire characters being introduced, he has fallen down the pecking order.
Lee Bora

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Can deal decent Critical Damage with single-target attacks | Weak DPS unit in comparison |
Syncs well with Sung Jinwoo due to being a Dark Element hunter | Fragile unit that requires healers and support characters to last longer |
Powerful debuffs weaken and slow down enemies | |
Especially good against bosses | |
Fast attack speed provides constant DPS output | |
Deals passive damage to opponents when not using |
Lee Bora is strong as an off-field support hunter, who can deal a reasonable amount of Dark damage, as well as the ability to weaken an opponent’s damage. She is especially useful against bosses, due to her debuffing abilities, which allow her to reduce the attack and movement speed of enemies.
B-Tier
Harper

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
High DPS unit | Complex to use |
Best Break hunter | Costly Advancements |
Can inflict Almighty Break Damage with Basic Skill | |
Combines well with Charlotte | |
Effective support buffs | |
Strong survivability |
Harper is an exceptional Break unit in Solo Leveling: Arise, making her a crucial asset when building a team to take on tough Gate bosses and high-level enemies.
Tawata Kanae and then Go Gunhee are the superior choices, but Harper is the next best Break character to pick if you don’t have him. As a durable Tank unit, she is tough to take down and provides valuable support buffs to strengthen your team.
Emma Laurent

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Best all-around character | Limited to what she can offer |
High Break Damage | |
Massive AoE attacks | |
Powerful DPS unit | |
Strong support buffs |
Emma Laurent is the best all-around hunter in Arise, offering a wealth of support, Breaking, and damage-dealing benefits.
All her skills can Break bosses, and deal enormous Fire damage. This, combined with her ability to use Burn attacks to weaken enemies while increasing Fire damage and Defense Penetration for your hunting team, makes her incredibly useful.
Gina

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Strong all-around support for Fire characters | Weak DPS unit |
Versatile and unique effects | Limited to benefiting Fire teams |
Doesn’t specialize in anything | |
Requires high Advancement to get the most out of her |
Gina struggled to make an impact in the meta upon her release on October 10. However, after receiving several buffs, particularly benefiting Fire-element characters, she has steadily risen to A-Tier. While stronger Fire Hunters exist, these improvements were enough to secure her spot.
As a Fire Mage, she serves as a solid all-around support for Fire teams but shines brightest when paired with a full lineup of the same element. Others are just better choices because they excel in certain aspects, meanwhile, Gina is more balanced overall.
Silver Mane Baek Yoonho

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Especially powerful against bosses | Fairly weak DPS unit |
Super effective Bleed effect to deal constant damage | Selfish unit that doesn’t support other hunters |
The lower the health, the more damage he will deal | Using healers in your team will only reduce his DPS output |
Shield and Super Armor abilities make him tough to eliminate | Complex playstyle |
The once previous best boss killer in Solo Leveling: Arise, Silver Mane boasts insane bleeding damage and the ability to buff himself greatly.
As his health decreases, he will only get stronger during your fights with his unique Tanking abilities and will be able to deal increasingly high amounts of Dark damage. However, his unique effects also make him less versatile, not a team player, and his DPS is far from anything special.
Woo Jinchul

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Can deal Break damage from Basic Attacks | DPS output is still fairly weak compared to other hunters |
Stun and Shield abilities provide versatile utility | Requires upgrades to boost damage significantly |
Doesn’t have specialized strengths as abilities are broad |
Woo Jinchul’s weakness used to be his damage, which is still nothing amazing, but updates and meta changes have meant he can deal more reasonable damage. Not only this, but the character has been given the ability to deal Break damage from low-level attacks and can apply the Stun effect to enemies.
He is also hard to hit, due to being able to dodge and evade attacks easily, and can even spawn Shields for his teammates. Overall, the changes have turned a somewhat useless character into a versatile choice for your team, but he’s still nothing to shout about.
Seo Jiwoo

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
High DPS | Requires Advancements to be most effective |
Decent Break unit | Newly added hunter characters are better Break units |
Can battle solo for long periods | |
Unique cooldown reset ability | |
Great against bosses | |
Strong survivability | |
Protects her team with Shield |
Seo Jiwoo is a diverse character who, thanks to her skill reset abilities, allows her to deal damage while solo for long periods.
This, paired with her strengths in Breaking enemies, such as bosses, and her ability to also give Shields to your hunting team, makes her a strong choice. However, since new hunters have been added with better Break capabilities, she has become less effective in the overall meta.
Hwang Dongsoo

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Specializes in fighting bosses | There are much better options to choose from for eliminating bosses |
Insane Shield debuffs | No teammate support abilities |
Strong Defense buffs | |
Reasonable Wind damage dealer | |
Hard to beat |
Hwang Dongsoo is a fairly strong Wind-type hunter that is especially effective against bosses that have armor, due to his unique ability to remove it. He’s also a great Tank who can increase his Defense, all while being able to deal reasonable damage.
Lim Tae-Gyu

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Specializes in fighting bosses | Ranged attacks are difficult to master |
Capable of dealing decent Break damage | Hard to hit enemies who move quickly |
Insane damage dealt from Ultimate Skill | If you aren’t taking on a boss, you are better off using most other hunters |
Effective burst damage attacks |
Lim Tae-Gyu is another strong hunter for boss fights due to his Breaking abilities, but mainly for his Ultimate Skill being able to deal one of the highest damage potentials in Solo Leveling: Arise. Despite his DPS being reasonably high, his various ranged attacks are hard to hit his targets.
Baek Yoonho

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Decent Break damage dealing unit | Slow skill animations make him an easy target |
Powerful Defense debuffs | Several new hunters are simply far better at dealing Break damage |
Most effective when fighting bosses | |
Versatile skill utility | |
Difficult to eliminate Tank unit |
Baek Yoonho was previously the best Breaker in the game and one of the top hunters for defeating bosses. However, there are plenty of far superior Break hunters that have been added to Arise following updates.
But, he is still a great all-round character, in which all of his attacks, abilities, and skills will allow you to Break opponents quickly. This is paired with reasonably strong support skills, damage, and the ability to passively weaken enemy defenses.
Shimizu Akari

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Dedicated Shield support | There are much stronger support characters |
Most effective in Light Hunter teams | Utility is too niche and not very effective |
Decent healing abilities | Needs considerable investment to make using worthwhile |
Shimizu is one of the few hunters who debuted only to immediately fall to the lower tiers of our rankings. As a Light healer, she specializes in supporting shield-based hunters, making her valuable in defense-heavy team compositions.
But her DPS, attacks, and overall abilities are underwhelming. While she can deliver decent results, the investment isn’t worthwhile, as other hunters offer similar benefits with far greater overall versatility.
C-Tier
Kang Taeshik

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
His Bleed debuff inflicts insane DPS over time | Vulnerable to counterattacks if stealth skills fail |
Strong burst damage attacks | Weak Health and Defense stats |
Unique stealth abilities allow you to creep up on enemies | Requires several Advancements and upgrades to compete with higher-ranked hunters |
Can dodge and evade attacks easily |
Kang Taeshik’s strengths come from his high DPS compared to others and his ability to deal damage by Bleeding enemies.
If you haven’t got Silver Mane at your disposal, who has very similar abilities and strengths, then Kang will be the hunter to pick. But, if you can avoid it, you’re better of using others in your team.
Anna Ruiz

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Reasonable Break damage dealer | Low DPS output |
Poison abilities deal Break and normal damage passively | Requires a lot of upgrades to make her effective |
Bind skill effect can immobilize targets | |
Easy to use ranged attacks |
Ann Ruiz’s strengths come from her unique ranged Water attacks that can inflict waves of damage, debuffs, and can even break her enemies. But, she will need a lot of upgrades to give her damage a boost.
Nam Chae-Young

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Freeze abilities are some of the most useful in the game | Requires a lot of investment to make a worthy choice |
Strong against bosses | Alicia Blanche can also Freeze opponents, and is better character due to her insane DPS output |
Easy to use ranged Water damage attacks |
Nam Chae-Young is impressive at taking down enemies’ guards with her ranged Water damage attacks, but needs considerable upgrades to give her damage a boost.
She also has the added ability of being able to Freeze opponents, which is especially useful as a support when fighting bosses to let your stronger damage hunters attack.
Park Heejin

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Versatile support unit | Superior support skills require several Advancements |
Can increase teammates’ Ultimate Skil damage, Power Gauge meter, and DPS output | Weak DPS unit |
Able to remove debuffs from your whole team | Only useful as a basic support character |
Advancement tier 5 allows her to start fights with Ultimate Skill ready |
Another support option is Park Heejin, who can help your hunting team in various ways. These include increasing Ultimate damage, overall damage, and removing debuffs.
Lee Joohee

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Strong healer unit | Apart from healing doesn’t do much else well |
Super Armor and Health buffs | Weak damage increase buffs are fairly pointless |
Advancement tier 3 provides effective Mana recovery abilities |
Lee Joohee is only good for healing, but it is not that useful in Solo Leveling: Arise. Her damage lacks, and so do her support abilities to give attack increases and mana recovery boosts to your hunting team.
Kim Chul

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Provides strong survivability for him and the team | Very Weak DPS unit |
Shield and Stun abilities | Better hunters can do similar abilities |
Versatile support utility |
Kim Chul is a great Tank hunter who can create a Shield for himself and your hunting team. By using his Ultimate, he can reduce the damage dealt to your allies and provide more Shields. He also can Stun enemies for a few seconds, making him an okay support character.
However, his attacks are fairly pointless, and Woo Jinchul is a much better choice who can also use Stuns and Shields – or S-tier Alicia Blanche who can Shield teammates and Freeze opponents instead, all while dealing considerably more DPS.
Yoo Jinho

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
One of the easiest hunters to use | Low DPS unit |
Can Break and Stun opponents | Not particularly strong at anything |
Much better hunters can do the same | |
Nothing unique |
Sung Jinwoo’s best friend, Yoo Jinho, has the benefits of being able to Break and Stun enemies, as well as being able to heal, provide defense boosts, and give attack increases to your team.
However, his abilities and DPS aren’t very strong compared to others. Similar to Kim Chul, you are better off using Woo Jinchul or Alicia Blanche if you want to benefit from stronger survivability and perform immobility effects.
Alternatively, if you want a Break unit, then the best hunter in the game, Go Gunhee, and several of the top S-tier hunters are in a whole different league. Overall, don’t waste your time with Jinho.
Hwang Dongsuk

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Breaking is his strongest ability | Jack of all trades, master of none in terms of skills |
Self-buffing Shield and healing effects make him last long on the battlefield | There are plenty of better Break units |
Stuns can prove useful | Weak DPS unit |
Hwang Dongsuk is a hard-to-beat Tank hunter who can heal and give Shield boosts to himself, as well as being able to Break and Stun enemies when attacking. But, he is not a team player, and the low amount of damage and lack of effectiveness in his abilities make him the best to avoid.
Han Song-Yi

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Reasonable normal damage and Critical Hit Damage dealer | Worst Water character in Arise |
Can protect herself with Shields | Even with upgrades, there is not much improvement |
Despite her damage per second being okay, she is still one of the weakest overall and is by far the worst Water hunter. If you have no choice, then make sure you upgrade her damage and Critical Damage.
Song Chiyul

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Most effective at clearing low-level enemies in Gates | Only useful for eliminating mobs |
Strong AoE attacks against large groups | Completely useless against tougher opponents and bosses |
Great as a starter hunter in the early game stages | Requires Advancements and upgrades to be worthwhile |
If you don’t have Choi Jong-In, then Song Chiyul is another option who shares similar skills and abilities. However, he is severely weak against bosses and is best to keep upgrading to wipe out Gate monsters.
Kim Sangshik

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Can deal Break damage | Very weak DPS unit |
Healing and Defense increase abilities | Break damage attacks are far worse than others |
Skills are remarkably lackluster | |
No real benefits |
Kim Sangshik has considerably low damage, ineffective skills, and a small skill range. The only positive is his ability to Break, which many have and do massively better.
Jo Kyuhwan

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Can deal Break damage and Stun enemies | Severely weak DPS unit |
Lackluster skills and abilities | |
Need to reach Advancement tier 5 to be able to use Stun effect | |
Has no special qualities |
Jo Kyuhwan is fairly lackluster overall, with his damage, range, skills, and abilities being average. He does have the ability to Break and Stun enemies when upgraded, but again, it is nothing special and makes him the second worst character in the game.
Park Beom-Shik

Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Decent Knockdown abilities and skill utility | The weakest hunter character in the game |
Reasonable DPS unit | Easy to eliminate due to incredibly low Health and Defense stats |
Can unleash fast attacks when health is low |
Park Beom-Shik is the worst hunter character of all you can choose in Solo Leveling: Arise.
His skills are not the worst, and his damage is okay, but his health is severely lacking, and there’s nothing special or particularly great about him. We’d recommend choosing anybody else if you can.
Now you know which hunters are the cream of the crop in Solo Leveling Arise, check out the best build for Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In. We’ve also covered the best Artifact sets and weapons for every hunter character.
