Red Dead Redemption 2 has officially reached 77 million copies sold, making it the sixth best-selling video game in history.

The milestone was confirmed in Take-Two Interactive’s most recent earnings update, which revealed the open-world epic sold an additional four million units in the past quarter alone.

First released in October 2018, Rockstar’s Western adventure has continued to attract new players thanks to its critical acclaim, detailed world, and enduring popularity across PC and consoles.

At launch, RDR2 generated over $725 million in retail sales during its first three days. It also went on to receive widespread acclaim, earning a Metacritic score of 97/100 on PlayStation 4 and winning multiple Game of the Year awards from media outlets including IGN, GameSpot, and the BAFTAs.

In the all-time charts, RDR2 sits just behind Mario Kart 8 / Deluxe at 77.32 million and ahead of Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow on 76.14 million. At the very top, Minecraft leads with more than 350 million sales, followed by Grand Theft Auto V at over 215 million, Wii Sports at 82.9 million, and Ark: Survival Evolved at 79 million.

Other titles close behind include PUBG: Battlegrounds with 75 million and The Sims at 70 million. Even without major new content for its online mode, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to post impressive numbers.

The game still regularly charts in the top 20 rankings in the US, nearly seven years after release. Alongside GTA V, Rockstar now has two games in the all-time top 10, cementing its position as one of the industry’s most commercially successful studios.
