Monster Hunter Wilds Multiplayer: How to team up with other hunters across PS5, Xbox & PC

Half of the fun of Monster Hunter Wilds is getting to gang up on a mighty monster with your friends in multiplayer.
With the state of crossplay in MHW, it’s hard not to want to enjoy other players’ company while completing quests or hunting for materials. That said, it can sometimes be hard to navigate this game’s menus and find the option to add friends and play with them.
In this guide, we’ll navigate every multiplayer option in Monster Hunter Wilds and how to find it.
How to add friends
To add a friend in Monster Hunter Wilds, use the Lobby Members or Hunter ID search options from the Member List in the Communication menu. You can access this menu by pressing Esc or Options and selecting the speech bubble icon.

Once you’ve found them, you can form a Link Party to play in multiplayer with a fixed group of friends. You can reunite even if you separate temporarily.
How to invite friends to a party
In the Communication menu, look for the Invite to Link Party option to invite other three players to your party.
You can chat and invite other members to complete quests with you with the Invite to Environment Link option. Keep in mind that fellow Party Link members can either reject the invitation to participate in your environment. Plus, this option can be unavailable due to progression restrictions.
How to send an SOS Flare
You can send an SOS Flare to get help from other Hunter players or NPCs when fighting a monster. To do so, follow these steps:
- On PC, press F2 to open the action hotbar and select the SOS Flare option.
- On PlayStation, press L1, arrow up, and pull the left analog stick down to select the SOS Flare.
- On Xbox, press LB, arrow up, and pull the right analog stick down to select the SOS Flare.
If you’ve followed the steps above successfully, your Palico will leave and three other players or NPCs will join you, though it can take them a couple of minutes to get to the boss area.
How to change lobbies
You can change lobbies by speaking with Alma in the Quest Counter and selecting the option Change Lobby.

If you’re struggling to find her, know she can either be at a campsite or she may follow you around in her own Seikret.
What are lobbies
In lobbies, you can play with other players. These can be private or recommended public lobbies.
- Recommended lobby: By selecting this option, you’ll join the most popular lobby based on your settings.
- Private lobby: By searching for a lobby ID, you can join a private lobby with specific members.
How to create or join a Squad
Squads work like guilds in most games. By joining or creating one, you’re fostering your own community within Monster Hunter Wilds.
- Joining a Squad: Select the option Apply to Join at the Squad Information Counter.
- Creating a Squad: Select the option Form a Squad at the Squad Information Counter.

The Squad Information Counter can be found in any campsite and is run by Felicita, a woman in a white and blue dress.
You can have 8 squads with 50 members each. You can manage them by selecting the Manage Squads on the Info menu.
