CapcomMonster Hunter Wilds has quickly become the fastest-selling Capcom game ever, outselling Monster Hunter World, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter in just a matter of days.
To say that Monster Hunter Wilds is popular would be a big understatement – Since launch, it has reached top 5 in all-time Steam peak player count records, surpassing giants like Marvel Rivals, Cyberpunk 2077, and Dota 2.
Currently, Monster Hunter Wilds is the second most played game on Steam and appears just below Valve’s ever-popular Counter-Strike 2. However, it’s not just playercount records Monster Hunter Wilds is beating.
Monster Hunter Wilds breaks major sales milestone
On March 4, 2024, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds has sold eight million units in just three days. The devs revealed that Wilds is the fastest-selling title in the company’s history, setting a new benchmark for other popular games like Resident Evil and Street Fighter.
According to figures taken from Statista, Wilds’ success puts it in similar standing with Nintendo giants like Pokemon Scarlet / Violet launch, which sold 10 million copies in three days. Similarly, Black Myth: Wukong sold over 10 million copies in the same timeframe, so Wilds has quickly shot up the rankings in terms of its popularity.
CapcomTo put this in perspective, Capcom’s last Monster Hunter release, Monster Hunter Rise, shifted only four million copies in three days. So, it’s clear that the beast slaying series is receiving global attention from both series fans and new players alike.
Addressing the sales record, the devs explained how they “remain firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.”
