Rocket Raccoon is a Strategist in Marvel Rivals, capable of crafting tons of damage and healing through is abilities – but only if he’s played right.
Strategist characters are all about backing up their team. Whether it’s healing, providing buffs, or even dishing out CC to enemies to help your teammates finish them off.
One of the better Strategist characters in the game is Rocket Raccoon whose kit is designed to help the whole squad on the battlefield. Here’s all you need to know about him.
Rocket Racoon stats in Marvel Rivals

- Class: Strategist
- Health: 250
- Movement: 6m/s
Rocket Raccoon is a pretty simple character to play and master with a difficulty rating of only one star. However, he’s a fantastic Strategist to add to your team, largely thanks to his boost abilities and reviving skills.
His lower health is made up for by his higher movement, which is tied together fantastically with his powerful ranged weapon and even stronger abilities, placing him firmly in the A-tier on our Marvel Rivals Season 1.5 tier list.
Weapons
Unsurprisingly, Rocket Raccoon’s primary weapon is his gun, which deals damage to enemies (Bombard Mode). However, as a Strategist, he also has a repair mode on that gun, granting the ability to heal allies (Repair Mode).

How to play Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Rivals
The best way to play Rocket Raccoon in Marvel Rivals is to place your utility in good positions. His ult, C.Y.A, the B.R.B, and Ammo Invention can be destroyed, which means enemies can easily erase any value from it.
So, make sure to place it right around corners or behind terrain. However, keep in mind that your teammates will still need to have it in their line of sight to get its effects.

The other thing about Rocket is to watch out for coordinated dives, as he is a very easy target who can’t get away easily. Always either be near allies or ready to make your escape at a moment’s notice.
It should be noted that for as good as Rocket’s utility is, he’s quite mechanically reliant on you, as you’ll need good aim and resource management to play him well. So, if you aren’t confident, take some time to practice.
Best team comp
Rocket Raccoon only works as well as his team, especially given he’s a squishier Strategist. So, we recommend pairing him with the following characters:
- The Punisher
- Winter Soldier
- Groot
- Wolverine
The Punisher

Thanks to his Team-Up, Rocket works fantastically with The Punisher. After all, giving Punisher a faster fire rate and infinite ammo will allow him to shoot through enemies at a ridiculous rate. He’ll also serve as a varied mid-range and long-range DPS, capable of drawing the fire away from Rocket while you keep him topped up and deadly.
Check out our Punisher guide for more details on the character.
Winter Soldier

As it currently stands, in Season 1.5, Bucky is unbelievably overpowered, with fans calling for a ban on the hero in comp matches. If you manage to squeeze past this ban, then The Winter Soldier is a perfect addition to Rocket. Combining his already powerful abilities with Rocket’s Team-Up will instantly change your game.
Check out our Winter Solider guide for more details on the character.
Groot

Similar to the above, Groot is a great addition to any team with Rocket. That added Damage Reduction and movement is extremely useful and shouldn’t be understated. Combine those powers with Groot’s ability to protect you with his walls, and you’ve got a brilliant team.

Best counters
If you find yourself against a particularly skilled Rocket Raccoon main, then you’ll need the right fighters to take him down. We suggest the following counters:
- Iron Fist
- Hulk
- Black Widow
Iron Fist

Rocket’s health and position as a Strategist are his primary weaknesses. He can’t deal with close-up fighters who deal high damage, like Iron Fist. Simply use your speed or stealth to get close to Rocket and hammer him with your fists, he’ll go down fast.
Check out our Iron Fist guide for more details on the character.
Hulk

Working a lot like Iron Fist, Hulk is there to get close to Rocket and provide the powerful killing blows. However, he’s also there to tank most of the hits while getting to the Strategist. Simply try and avoid the wrath of Rocket’s teammates and get up close to him, with that, you’re almost guaranteed to succeed.
Check out our Hulk guide for more details on the character.
Black Widow

If getting close to your enemy isn’t exactly your style, then you’ll want to choose a character like Black Widow. Her long-ranged attacks are mighty and allow you to keep yourself safe while utilizing Rocket’s lower health. Just keep hidden and pick him off from afar.
