As one of the simpler characters in Marvel Rivals, Namor is a great introductory hero for new players. Don’t let his simplicity fool you because the king of the seas can still turn the tides of battle with the right approach.
If the number of options is a bit much in the hero shooter, Namor is a solid place to start as one of the simpler Duelists on offer. He’s got some handy summons that provide both offense and defense and can be deadly in the right hands.
Before you can dominate matches with him though, you’ll need to know all about his abilities, ultimate, and playstyle.
Namor stats in Marvel Rivals

- Class: Duelist
- Health: 275
- Movement: 6 m/s
Namor may have a simple kit overall but he’s reached the top of the meta as players have gotten used to his playstyle. He’s not the most agile Duelist but he’s got solid defense, can deal some fantastic damage, and his ultimate is exceptional at shutting down more mobile heroes.
Season 2 meta changes
One of the most interesting switch-ups for Namor in S2 — which will likely change up how he’s played — is the removal of his Luna Snow team-up ability, Frozen Spawn, instead being replaced with the Gamma Monstro ability from teaming up with Hulk.
Outside of that, though, he remains pretty unchanged as we head into the current season, so we’d expect him to retain his S-tier position within our character tier list.
Weapons
The king of the sea’s weapon is his trusty Trident of Neptune. He throws in forward onto enemies, and any critical hits can apply an Attack Speed buff.

How to play Namor in Marvel Rivals
As one of the simplest characters to learn in Marvel Rivals, Namor drops into battle with just three core abilities and his ultimate. Two of these abilities are summons, one providing some defense while the other sending out a friendly Monstro Spawn to distract your enemies.

The best advice is to constantly use your abilities as they come off cooldown. As they’re mostly autonomous, and require little manual input from you, they should just be spammed out as often as possible to aid your team.
When it comes to Namor’s ultimate, however, you’ll need a little more precision. Be sure to time it right, during the biggest teamfights and you could easily shift the entire fight in your favor. Stopping multiple enemies in their tracks is invaluable, so keep that ult charged until just the right time.
Best team comps
The best characters to use alongside Namor are:
- Luna Snow
- Hulk
- Jeff the Land Shark
- The Punisher
Luna Snow

Luna Snow is a great pairing with Namor thanks to her healing abilities. Namor has good defense but he can find himself vulnerable and that’s where Luna can come in to keep him in the fight for longer.
She can freeze enemies with Absolute Freeze giving Namor the chance to jump in and deal some damage with either his Trident attacks or stronger abilities.
For the best way to play her, check out our Luna Snow guide.
Hulk

Namor and Hulk will likely be seeing a lot of playtime together in Season 2 due to their new team-comp, Gamma Monstro.
Details on what that actually does are currently unknown, but both characters sit in the S and A-tier of our tier list, meaning they’re already strong contenders for great picks individually, so that synergy will likely push things even further. Plus, who wouldn’t want to run alongside everyone’s favorite Hulk in a match?
For the best way to play him, check out our Hulk guide.
Jeff the Land Shark

Jeff can be as deadly as he is adorable when paired with the right characters in Marvel Rivals, and he happens to be a great match with Namor.
Jeff also has fantastic healing, with his Bubble Shield safely imitating damage and giving Namor some additional cover when things get chaotic.
Jeff’s Tornado can also create chaos in larger team fights which can lend to setting up an opportunity for Namor to strike for his ultimate.
Our dedicated Jeff the Land Shark guide tells you exactly how to play him.
The Punisher

Namor’s turrets are great damage dealers but they are fairly easy to destroy and once they’re gone you’ll need to wait for the cooldown to end.
Having a tough DPS at your side can be extremely helpful in these situations. The Punisher can dish out a lot of damage quickly, whether it’s from close range or a long distance. Having both The Punisher and Namor’s turrets firing at enemies is a great way to dispatch the enemy team, and even if your turret gets taken out, The Punisher can keep the attack going until the cooldown is finished.
Check out our Punisher guide for the best way to use him in Marvel Rivals.
Best counters
If you’re struggling against a Namor during matches, we’d recommend using one of these characters to counter him:
- Iron Man
- Doctor Strange
Iron Man

Iron Man is a solid counter to Namor as he can fly around the battlefield and ultimately avoid his attacks.
Namor thrives the most in close-combat encounters so Iron Man can safely remain at a distance and whittle his health down. By staying in the air, you can easily put Namor on the ropes.
You can check out our full Iron Man guide for the best ways to use him.
Doctor Strange

Similar to Iron Man, Doctor Stange’s biggest strength against Namor is his ability to stay at a distance. His more defensive abilities let him absorb what would be hard-hitting attacks, and he can dish out damage from a safe distance.
To top it all off, Doctor Strange can teleport quickly away before Namor lands any big hits. With so many tools at his disposal, it’s difficult for the King of the Seas to make an impact against him.
Our dedicated Doctor Strange guide has the best tips for his playstyle.
