Tips to play Magik in Marvel Rivals
When playing Magik, you cannot be scared. You have to play up close to enemies or else you won’t be able to do anything.
If you’re caught in a tricky position, Magik does have enough escape options in her Stepping Discs and Umbral Incursion to get out of a misplay, however, be aware they’re not a sure-fire escape.
Luckily, if you are up close to an enemy, you should be beefy enough thanks to your passive to tank some damage while you kill off an opponent, but that it depends on the amount of damage you deal.
Good positioning is key to playing Magik well, so make sure you’re not engaging the enemy team alone. You should be the one to engage in the fight, with your team following suit.
Also, remember, when exiting Stepping Discs, you will be given the option to deal a close-ranged AOE attack or summon a Limbo demon that will deal damage for you, so make sure you are using it whenever you are engaging with an enemy.
The glaring weakness in her kit is against long-ranged characters, like Luna Snow and Hela, as they can easily whittle you down from afar. So just be very aware of your matchups and pick your battles right.
Best team comps
We would recommend using the following heroes alongside Magik in Marvel Rivals:
- Black Panther
- Psylocke
- Luna Snow
- Mantis
Black Panther

Black Panther and Magik make a great pair thanks to the Disc Master Team-Up Ability. Black Panther can activate it to reverse time for a few seconds. You can either capitalize on this to correct a mistake, quickly reposition or get yourself out of a sticky situation.
Magik isn’t the most agile hero but Black Panther can make up for that with some great mobility on the battlefield.
Check out our full Black Panther guide for the best ways to use him.
Psylocke
Psylocke and Magik also share the Disc Master Ability so they can reap the same benefits of rewinding time. The medium-ranged character is fantastic for targeting enemies that Magik may not be able to reach with her more melee-focused moveset.
Finally, Psylocke is great at disrupting the enemy team and giving Magik the chance to surprise them with swiping sword attacks.
You can read our full Psylocke guide for the best ways to play her.
Luna Snow

Luna thrives as a support unit in Marvel Rivals. She can easily keep Magik alive for longer with her healing abilities, and her Absolute Freeze can stop enemies in their tracks, allowing Magik to jump in and dish out some big melee damage.
We’ve also got a dedicated Luna Snow guide you can check out.
Best counters
If you’re struggling against Magik in Marvel Rvials, try using one of the following heroes in a match:
- Winter Soldier
- Storm
Winter Soldier
Not only is Bucky extremely powerful in Season 1.5, but his longer-ranged attacks as an excellent counter to Magik’s close combat. Bucky can keep at a safe distance from Magik’s powerful sword attacks and dish out plenty of damage.
His Tainted Voltage skill can slow enemies as well as damage them so if you can get a precise hit on Magik, she’ll be pretty useless for a while considering her slow movement anyway.
You can check out our dedicated Winter Soldier guide for the best ways to use him.
Storm

Flying heroes are great options against Magick as they can stay out of her attack range. Storm can deal a lot of damage from a distance so is ideal to target Magik from afar. Her Goddess Boost can also inflict slow on enemies so if you can hit Magik with it you’ll have a great advantage.
