If you thought Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was already tough, the devs think you’re cute.
A new Hardcore Mode, the masochist’s choice for medieval roleplaying, is on the way to Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. However, this isn’t just “slightly harder”; it’s a full-on boot to the face of convenience, as players will have to say goodbye to fast travel, the very comfy UI, and basic survival instincts.
On this new mode, you’ll stumble around the map like a drunk peasant trying to find his own house – with no markers, no help, and half your organs failing from food poisoning or bleeding out. If that still sounds fun, then here’s everything you need to know about KCD2’s most brutal challenge mode.
KCD2 Hardcore Mode release date
Hardcore Mode didn’t launch with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, but it will be added as a free update in the third week of April 2025.
A nice little “gift” for anyone who thought the base game was too forgiving. Moreover, for those who were hoping to customize the pain – yes, mod support exists to toggle Hardcore elements on or off. But if you’re doing that, are you really Hardcore?

KCD2 All Hardcore mode features
Here’s a breakdown of all the changes you can expect in Hardcore mode.
- Saving: Autosaves? No. You’ll need Saviour Schnapps, sleep, bathhouses, or quitting the game to save progress.
- Survival: Health and stamina are barely visible. Food and potions are sluggish, and cooking pots are worthless.
- Navigation: Fast travel is dead. Your position is hidden. Compass markers are gone, so you’ll navigate by vibes now.
- Combat: Fights are more punishing, with no timing prompts or directional cues.
- Economy: Merchants pay less. Repairs cost more. The peasant life ain’t cheap.
- UI: The HUD’s been gutted. You’re on your own, Henry.
- Negative Perks: You’re forced to pick 2–3 permanent disabilities. Like sleepwalking into the wilderness or bleeding out from a paper cut.
