Sometimes you just want a fresh start for your character, and Clair Obscur Expedition 33 knows your pain.
Whether you’re fixing a build gone wrong or trying out a whole new strategy. That’s where respeccing comes in. In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you can reset and redistribute both your Skill Points and Attribute Points, but you’ll need a special item to make it happen.
Respec skills
To respec a character’s skills, follow these steps:
- Head to any Expedition Flag Rest Point.
- Choose “Learn Skills” from the menu.
- Use the bumpers to tab over to the character you want to reset.
- Hold down the designated button (Triangle on PlayStation) to use a Recoat.
All that character’s Skill Points are refunded, ready to be reassigned however you like. Just remember: this uses up one Recoat and only resets skills, not attributes.
Respec attributes
If you want to rework a character’s stats like Strength or Agility, here’s how:
- While at a Rest Point, select “Upgrade Attributes.”
- Tab over to the character you want to respec.
- Hold the Triangle button (or equivalent) to consume another Recoat.
- All Attribute Points are refunded, so you can tailor their build from scratch.
Again, it’s one Recoat per type of respec. So if you want a full reset – both attributes and skills – you’ll need two Recoats for that one character.
How to get Recoats
Recoats aren’t exactly growing on trees, so here’s where to find them:
- Buy them from Gestral Traders scattered across the world.
- Explore thoroughly; you might stumble across a few in hidden places.
- Defeat enemies; some foes have a (very slim) chance to drop them.
Because Recoats are limited, it’s a good idea to think carefully before using them. Save them for when you’ve got a new strategy or need a serious mid-game pivot.
