We’ve all been there – the second you confirm your character’s appearance, you look at them in-game and they just don’t quite look the same. Luckily, Monster Hunters Wilds knows your struggle.
If you’re unhappy with your character’s appearance, there’s no reason you shouldn’t change it. After all, you’ll be looking at your Hunter’s face for hours, both in cutscenes and during gameplay.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to edit your character’s appearance to get the look you want – and reveal how much this feature costs in MHW.
How to edit your character
You can change your character’s appearance by entering a tent, navigating to the Appearance Menu tab, and selecting Change Appearance.
Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of the process:
- Enter your tent, either inside base or in a Pop-up camp
- Select the icon with the head on the far right: the Appearance Menu.
- Select the first option: Change Appearance
This will take you back to the character creation screen, where you can tweak any aspect of your Hunter or Palico to your heart’s content.
Changing appearance cost
During both Monster Hunter Wilds betas, changing your appearance didn’t cost any currency or passes, and that was also true in our time with the game before release.
However, MHW has confirmed on X that once the game officially launches, players will need a Hunter Edit Voucher or a Palico Edit Voucher to make changes.
The first one will be free, but after that, you’ll need to purchase additional tickets. For reference, Monster Hunter World charged $2.99 for appearance change vouchers.
We’ll keep you posted on whether this system sticks or if Capcom reverts to free changes post-launch. In the meantime, why not check out how to use the transmog system – and how to hide your helmet to show off your Hunter’s gorgeous face in photo mode?
