Catching a Giant Vigorwasp in Monster Hunter Wilds should be easy, but if you’ve been searching for one so long that you’re starting to think it’s a myth – or a mistranslation – you’re not alone.
Good news: the Giant Vigorwasp does exist! It’s just picky about when and where it appears. Your Palico is eager to help, but they probably didn’t expect this task to be such a hassle for the almighty Hunter, especially if he’s seen you catch that Dapperwing and Tracktail Lizard.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to find and catch a Giant Vigorwasp in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Giant Vigorwasp location
Giant Vigorwasps are most commonly found in the Windward Plains, specifically around the Oasis in Area 13 or Area 10. They also appear in Scarlet Forest (Area 8) and Ruins of Wyveria (Areas 2, 5, and 13), but they only appear during the Plenty season.
To adjust the season, rest in a camp tent and pay 300 Guild Points. If this option is grayed out, the story (even if in HR) progression is locking you out. Keep ranking up and completing missions to change seasons naturally or through rest.
A Giant Vigorwasp looks like a regular Vigorwasp but larger, with a bigger green sack hanging underneath. On your map, they are marked with a slightly darker green icon.
Once you’ve spotted it, make sure you have your Capture Net equipped from the essential items hotwheel and follow these steps:
- Aim at the Giant Vigorwasp with your Capture Net.
- Wait for the reticle to change color, indicating it is within range.
- Press the capture button (right trigger) to catch it.
Giant Vigorwasp Outbreaks occasionally occur. You can check for them in the environment overview forecast.
If your Palico is highly leveled, it may summon a Giant Vigorwasp during combat, which you can then capture.
Successfully capturing a Giant Vigorwasp completes the “A Gutsy Move” side mission and rewards you with 3 Ancient Potions & 5 Max Potions.
That’s everything you need to know about Giant Vigorwasps in Monster Hunter Wilds. Now that you’re here, you might want to save our guide on all monster weaknesses to be a real pro and all fish locations, so you can finally clear those fishing side quests off your backlog.
