WargamingThe Beta Playtest for upcoming mech battler Steel Hunters from World of Tanks developer Wargaming is kicking off, and there are some worthwhile rewards for those who come out on top.
The playtest runs from February 20-24 and will be running the latest build of the game, that features third-person mech shooter mechanics and an interesting blend of PvPvE combat.
Steel Hunters will follow a free-to-play model that tasks players with upgrading and leveling their chosen mechs over time. Matches follow a duos format, with six teams working to be the first to eliminate the enemy or reaching and holding an extraction point until the timer runs out.

Steel Hunters PC Beta Playtest: Access dates and how to join
WargamingThe four-day Beta Playtest is available via both Steam and Wargaming’s proprietary Game Center distribution platform. Dropping as part of Steam Publisher Weekend, you can access the beta via the game’s official Steam page, or the aformentioned Game Center.
Pre-downloads aren’t available, so you’ll want to log on early to download to maximize your time with game.
Steel Hunters Beta Playtest rewards
WargamingRunning alongside the Beta Playtest is the Clutch Performance event, which gives access to rewards for those who perform best. Those who feature in the Top 10 on the daily leaderboard will win Steam gift cards, as well as exclusive (unspecified) physical merchandise for the game.
In addition, all players have the opportunity to compete for the unique Trenchwalker skin, which will carry over to the full release of the game.
