Pictures of the Asus ROG Ally 2 have appeared in an FCC listing alongside a special Xbox version, and it may be coming sooner than you think.

There have been rumors of a possible Xbox handheld for several years now, and Microsoft has publicly addressed the possibility several times.

On social media, Asus posted a video teasing a next-gen ROG Ally release and the official Xbox account replied. These posts convinced fans that the brands are partnering for the long-rumored handheld.

On May 7, 2025, pictures of two variants of a new Asus handheld popped up in an FCC Listing for its WiFi card, and one of them has an Xbox button on the front.

New Asus ROG handheld could be long-awaited Xbox device

The FCC listing revealed two new versions of the handheld in both white and black colors, with each sporting an extra button on the left side, beside the joystick.

On the black variant, that button features the Xbox logo, while the white one is just a solid color. The pictures do not show the screen on, so it’s unclear if the Xbox variant will have a special software added or if the button will just open the Microsoft-made gaming app.

The FCC listing doesn’t reveal much regarding specs for the handheld, but it did mention a 7-inch 120Hz LCD display with an 8-Core AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU in the Xbox edition, with a smaller 4-core chip in the white one.

There’s a pretty major change to the design of the ROG Ally 2 as well. Instead of the blocky shape of the original, the pictures show molded grips on both sides of the device, similar to the PlayStation Portal.
