YouTube: ChickenDogThe Nintendo Switch 2 console doesn’t arrive until June 5, but one eager fan is already waiting in line with an elaborate plan to save his spot.
After years of rumors and speculation, the Switch 2 was finally revealed in January of 2025, giving fans an insight into the new hardware. This was followed by a special Nintendo Direct stream on April 2, which showed off many of the launch games and confirmed the release date.
But although the worldwide launch is still months away, and pre-orders aren’t even live in the US after a delay due to uncertainty surrounding trade tariffs, one dedicated fan is already doing everything they can to be first in line.
YouTuber is already camping out to get Switch 2 first
YouTuber ChickenDog shared a post on April 5 explaining that he will be camping outside of a Nintendo store for the next two months. While this might sound far-fetched, he’s also promised to release daily vlogs documenting the process.
In the first of these videos, he promised to be waiting outside from “morning to close,” with the aim of being “first in line” and through the door to buy one.
While it’s still an incredible feat, he won’t be sleeping outside the store during this time, though.
In the follow-up video, he confirmed that he has a hotel and an Airbnb lined up where he’ll be sleeping at night to ensure he stays safe. This is also where he’ll be editing the vlogs.
He’s not alone either, as he’s enlisted a group of friends to help him secure the spot and make sure it’s “on hold” whenever he has to go back to the room for sleep or work.
While he’s unlikely to face too much competition right now, given that we’re still months away from the Switch 2’s release, he’ll likely have to work much harder to save his place at the front of the queue as the launch date nears.
If ChickenDog gets his way, he’ll be among the first to try out the new console and its huge launch lineup of games, including Mario Kart World.
