Monster Hunter Wilds’ Mantles can give you the edge over your scaly foes and even increase your damage and survivability, making them a must for all players.
Mantles make their long-awaited return in Monster Hunter Wilds, giving players the chance to use these utility-based items against that game’s monster roster. With so many threats like Arkveld and the mighty Jin Dahaad roaming around the Forbidden Lands, you’ll need your wits about you.
Aside from using your trusty weapons like the Hunting Horn, Mantles can also help raise your damage and even stop you from carting. So, whether you’re looking to get the best kill times or just want more survivability in High Rank quests, then you’ll need to add every Mantle to your collection.
All Mantles so far
There are currently five Mantles in Monster Hunter Wilds that we have unlocked so far. These are as follows:
MANTLE | EFFECTS | HOW TO GET |
---|---|---|
Ghillie Mantle | The Ghillie Mantle conceals you from enemy view and enables the use of sneak attacks on unsuspecting monsters | Unlocked by default. |
Rocksteady Mantle | Removes all damage interactions including knockbacks from monster attacks, wind effects, grants tremor resistance, and removes stun from roars. You’ll also take less damage when wearing the Rocksteady Mantle. | Beat the Black Flame Low Rank story quest, then head over to the Windward Plains base camp and speak to Gemma. She’ll give you the Rocksteady Mantle and a Shockproof Jewel. |
Mending Mantle | After a brief delay, the Mending Mantle will heal you back to full health. | Beat Xu Wu in the Ruins of Wyveria and speak to Gemma back at the base camp. |
Evasion Mantle | Increases the invulnerability window while evading and grants a temporary attack boost for evading a monster attack at the very last moment | Unlocked after you’ve beaten the Low Rank campaign and defeated the Frenzied Nerscylla in the Wounded Hollow. |
Corrupted Mantle | Decreases health, but increases affinity and weapon performance while equipped. Repeated attacks on monsters will further increase your attack power and affinity. | Defeat High Rank Gore Magala and speak to Gemma. |
Best Mantles

The best Mantles in Monster Hunter Wilds are the Evasion Mantle and Corrupted Mantle.
The Evasion Mantle gives you a nice boost to your damage when you narrowly evade a monster’s attack, while also increasing the invulnerability window while dodging. It has a nice mix of utility and damage that makes it useful to both ranged and melee users.
Meanwhile, The Corrupted Mantle is the best damage option. Landing repeated attacks on monsters will further increase your attack power and affinity, which is particularly powerful for weapons that rely on crit-based builds like Long Sword and Bow.
