How many people play Fortnite? Player count in 2025

Fortnite player count stats across the game's history.

Fortnite has continued to dominate the Battle Royale genre with leading player count figures in 2024 and looks set to continue that trend throughout 2025.

Epic’s beloved Battle Royale has developed and maintained a passionate fanbase over the years, with many still playing since its first chapter. Fortnite has also become widely known for its major collaborations and crossovers, which always have caused a surge in interest.

Its biggest competition still comes from top Battle Royale titles Apex Legends and Call of Duty’s Warzone. However, it has consistently managed to reign supreme.

Fortnite player count

Fortnite has averaged around 1,147,804 active players over the last 30 days, according to Active Player. That said, fortnite.gg reports 1,133,669 average players in July.

Since the launch of Chapter 6 Season 3 Superhero update on June 7 Fortnite has peaked at 2,396,423 concurrent players. This is a far cry from November 2024’s peak of 14,450,144 players.

While this decline suggests an emerging trend, before that, most months in 2024 averaged between two to four million, making 2025’s figures fairly respectable so far. Plus, we’ve got to keep in mind that a large portion of the Epic Games team is on holiday during July, which means the game doesn’t get new content that often.

Epic Games provides live player count numbers from directly within Fortnite, which can be seen under each game mode from the Discover screen in the Lobby menu. However, they don’t often make the overall player numbers public.

Here’s a chart breaking down the average player count since November 2024 as per fortnite.gg:

July continued the trend that sarted in June 2025, which saw an increase in player count, essentially bringing Fortnite back up from the May 2025 dip.

May had the lowest average player count since May 2023, dropping just above 1 million. This marks a steady decline from the peak months of November and December 2024, where averages reached around 2 to 2.2 million. These two months saw the highest player engagement, likely due to major content updates or seasonal events.

After December, average player numbers fell each month. January 2025 held a solid 1.8 million average, but the downward trend resumed in February and continued through March and April.

Peak player count

Fortnite’s peak player counts are 14,343,880 players at one time and 44.7 million players in one day. The former figure was provided by Fortnite.gg, while the latter was officially confirmed by Epic Games themselves.

Fortnite peak player count

The chart shows Fortnite’s peak player count from November 2024 to June 2025, with a clear drop each month after a massive spike in November 2024.

The record-breaking over 14 million concurrent players in Fortnite was achieved on November 30, 2024. This was all thanks to The Remix Finale event, which honored Juice WRLD at the end of the throwback Chapter 2 Remix season, and also kicked off the launch of Chapter 6.

That momentum faded quickly: December still held strong, but by January and February, peaks had dropped significantly.

March continued the downward trend, and April fell even further, marking the lowest engagement. While Fortnite still has a large overall player base, the falling peak numbers point to declining moment-to-moment excitement.

There appeared to be a clear recovery in June, possibly sparked by the rush of the Star Wars and Superhero seasons in Chapter 6 Season 3. But then, as July and the summer holidays came, the numbers dropped drastically.
